Proactively Replace Calipers?

My 2003 car has close to 190,000 miles. I own it since 2006 when I bought it used with 15,000 miles.

In the last couple of years, I had to replace both rear calipers. One had a stuck piston and the second one was causing a grinding noise.

Question - since both rear calipers had to be replaced, should I proactively replace the front calipers too?

I live in the south with no road salt. So the calipers look fine and I can still push the pistons back when I do a brake job.

However, these front calipers are 20 year old original OEM parts with close to 200,000 miles. Parts are cheap and I can do it myself. Braking is important. Thoughts on proactively replacing my front calipers?

The rears are prone to problems. The front, not so much. If the rubber parts (boots, hoses, seals) are showing age or the pins and bolts are rusty then sure.

I've owned vehicles with 400k + km original calipers and brackets, unless the slide pin is badly seized or the piston is seized don't have to do anything except the regular maintenance you do on the caliper while replacing brakes IE lube the slide pins and clean up the brackets

the best way to make your calipers last is to keep fresh fluid in the system. that goes for anything in the car that uses a fluid.

have you upgraded your front brakes to 6th gen brakes? it's definitely worth it.

Thanks everyone for your comments. It is unanimous. Don’t mess with front calipers unless there is a problem with them. These are my original calipers that came with the car.

Funny - when you Google “how long do brake calipers last”, the majority of the sources say 75,000 to 100,000 miles. It only goes to show. You can’t believe everything you read on the internet.
