Hole developed on upper intake manifold - Repairable?

I've got a dime-sized hole in my upper intake manifold right where the EGR tube pokes up into the manifold. I guess it burned a hole thru the manifold fiberglass (see pix). Has anyone ever experience this before? Needless to say, the car will not stay running. What about a temporary fix? I was thinking of making a patch out of sheet metal and high-temp gasket maker or JB Weld product and then riviting it in place to seal the hole. New manifolds are $1000+ so looking for a cheaper solution. 2000 Maxima SE with 215000 miles.

Your idea is good. Clean it up, make a patch out of sheet metal, seal it with high heat RTV, and screw it down tight.

Something has to be wrong with the EGR system. It's not supposed to put that much exhaust back in constantly.

Also parts aren't that expensive.
Check https://car-part.com/ or ebay.
