Got beat by 2k2 SE... needs some specs...

I have a 93 Mustang GT, and I was coming home from work when I see this thing zipping up behind me. It rode my @ss a little and then got right beside me. I looked over and I was like "wtf, this is a joke" and I threw it into 2nd. At the same time, the guy hammered it and we were off. We were already rolling at about 45, and it was even until I shifted to 3rd. He started to slowly pull on me and then I shifted to 4th and then I noticed we hit about 100 and that he was still slowly pulling and I wasn't going to catch him. I was SO suprised with the performance of this car. There was 1 or 2 cars on me when I shut down. I found him at the next light and it looked to be a 30 something guy in it. At the light, it had nothing. I let him go first to see if he'd raced from a stop and I saw his front lift up so I punched it. I had like 5 cars on him before I noticed him starting to catch back up.

ANYWAY! I'm not here to rag on these cars, so I hope you would treat mine the same. I'm just an 18 year old kid who likes all cars, regardless of make. I was soooo surprised, and I actually thought it was great that a car like this would take out a "muscle" car. My car came rated with 205hp and 285 ft/lbs from the factory. I haven't had it very long, so all i've done as far as go-fast stuff goes is an offroad x-pipe and a flowmaster catback and K&N (so i'm hoping like 220 at the wheels and 300 ft/lbs). The only info i've been able to find is the 255hp and 246 ft/lbs and that it weighs just over 3200 lbs. I just need to know the 1/4 mile time and 0-60. Again, I don't feel like hearing "oh, your pos old american car sucks", so try and be nice. Thanks, and you can check out my cars from the links in the sig.

The best runs from a 6-speed that members have posted are 14.3, the autos themselves are pretty quick coming in at about 14.6. These are the best times I've seen, but there may be quicker runs. You can get some dynos at www.frankencar.com Theres some stock ones there and w/intake too.

P.S.-American cars don't suck, take that from a happy Camaro owner.

That's pretty impressive. I need to get my parents into one of these Anyway, i'm glad someone doesn't hate domestics. I just figured this would be a site overrun with immature little kids that don't know what they are talking about. What kind of Camaro do you have? I sure miss mine... and as soon as my GT goes, it's time for another

I've got a 92 RS, the only reason I got it was because it stood out to me. It didn't have the white trash look. It was purple haze w/silver stripes. 25th Anniversary Heritage Package=cool .

Edit: I still have it, but it just sits in my garage. I need to sell it to mod the Max . Runs like a dream, any takers???

I'd go to http://www.camaroz28.com or http://www.thirdgen.org With the Heritage package, it'll sell. Is it the V6 or the 305?

you sure it's a 2k2? maybe it's a 2k or 2k1... did the one you race have clear tail? anyway.. 2k and 2k1 have 222 hp, weight about 3200 pound, 1/4 miles in about high 14, low 15s.., 2k2 have 250 hp, and it's a hella lot faster... by the way.. 2000, and 2001 is 3.0 liter, and 2002 is a 3.5 liter

I can't say for sure if it was a 2002. It WAS a 2000+ though. I didn't get a super good look because I was in such shock haha.

Were the headlights Hid's with little circles of yellow or regular halogens with larger yellow spots on the sides?

Also does anyone know a good place to post pics. I'm using web photos but I'm a dummy

Sorry if I offened anyone... i'm just used to that kind of stuff all over the place...

As far as the headlights... I am not exactly sure about the yellow lights... the thing that sticks out in my mind is that the foglights were round and they were far on the outside of the bumper under the outside of the headlights.

Went to the page and saw your car Demon, quite nice, even for a 5.slow . I didn't know you had that many mods, I'm gonna bet you raced a 2k2, but it coulda been a 2k-2k1, I dunno.

That's definetly 305 TBI... 170hp and a whopping 255ft/lbs of torque! Surely nothing to be scared of, but your car looks really clean. If you want to let it go, be sure to check out those sites I listed above. You could sell it VERY easily.

Oh the t-tops... I miss those! I really hope it was an 02 I raced. I didn't miss a shift, and I wound my car out to 5K for each shift (redline is at 5800)... oh well... a loss is a loss. Anyway, your RS looks really nice though, so don't worry about the power... I bet you could win some shows with how clean it looks.

Like I said, I don't mind that I lost... I thought it was pretty cool. It just makes me realize that there is always something better out there. I don't even like my Mustang anyway. I need another Camaro.

A 2002 max is no slouch off the line, the guy you raced against just did not know how to drive.

I race my friends highly moddified 95 GT several times each week. He has the following work done to his car, Edelbroke(S?) intake mainifold, MAFS and intake and flowmaster headers high flow cat, 3.55 gears, aluminum heads, pulleys, after market cams, carbon fiber hood, edlebroke suspension. I beat him time after time by about 1/2 car lenght from 0-100 MPH. When we launch, 9 out of 10 times I get a jump on him . He has beaten me once but only by about a foot, it all depends on who gets the best launch(which I usualy do ) becuase from a roll we are dead even.

Take it easy

couldn't said it better.. there are always something out there that is better... thanks for giving respect to the Max owners... we usually don't get too much respect until we beat someone...(then they probably give a whole bunch of excuses.. "I miss a shift... my car not running right.. etc..."

Yep...nice to see something new for a change

Hey demon, ur GT 5 spokes...do you know where I could buy some? I want wheels for my 85 Capri (3.8 L slowww), I think those would look best. Cheapest I found was $150 per rim w/o tires from a junkyard...do you know any places that sell Mustang parts cheap?

Ludacris... you can buy mine. I am going to be getting Cobra R's in the spring. Name your price. The tires were new when I bought the car (July) and only have about 4K miles on them and a few burnouts and only 1 powerbrake

Max2000... these cars are pretty hot. I was actually telling another Stang person that i'm sure they could keep up with a stock stang and he was like "blah, ricers, whatever." a few days ago. I was just so suprised they could beat a stock 5.0. Anyway, I don't consider myself a bad driver; I didn't miss a shift at all, I down shifted to 2nd and hammered it the same time he did when we started. There's no excuse here... a Maxima beat my car.

eMax95... I don't think he had a 6 speed, so it's not really like you have to be a *good* driver to drive an auto. I know off the line, I wouldn't lose, just because I have so much more torque, it's just your DOHC's kick in and kill my top end. Either way... I lost the top end battle with NO excuses... and he lost off the line... no excuses.

That's alright 2M0A0X2... i'd much rather have your M3... but since i'm 18, i'll take what I can get.

Anyway... i'll get some gears in my car and i'll find another and see if that changes anything

Have you ever dynoed your mustang? My 6spd max has a lot of TQ through out the power band, infact more torque then my tires and FWD can possibly handle. My max put down 200+ FWTQ from 1900 RPM up to 5200 RPM and put down a peak of 223 FWTQ @4300 RPM(beforemy RT cat).
What are your 60 ft's on street tires?

I couldn't tell you what my times are since I haven't had my car long enough to get it to a track. Give me some time, and I can get some specs of other cars like mine. I don't want to start an argument, so i'll just give you the benefit of the doubt. Anyway, what do all those abbreviated mods mean (RT CAT, etc???). I'm sure some of the stuff is the same for the domestics, but i've just never seen these abbreviations before.

Ok, but then what about...

KYB AGX & H&R, RT Cat, FSTB, RSB, AE:sills/Pedals

KYB makes shocks and struts, H&R are lowering springs, FSTB is some sort of throttle body, RSB... I have no idea, and AE is American Eagle sills/pedals??? So what am I missing...

FSTB = Front Strut Tower Brace
RSB = Rear Sway Bar
AE = Anniversary Edition

Demon -

You wouldn't be the first mustang owner to get a shock.

My favorite target is the mid-90s 4.6 GT.
