SE & GXE Suspension comparison.......

I have a 2K GXE and i'm looking to upgrade my suspension. What exactly is the difference between the SE and GXE suspension? I would like to order all SE parts and install them in my car to give it a tighter ride.

what do you think??

thanks in advance

I think we recently had a thread on this...It all boils down to stiffer springs and a different kind of bushing in the front stabilizer bar. You might want to use the 'search' function here.

Stock SE parts are NOT worth the money, unless u are getting them from a junked maxima. You can get aftermarket suspension parts for similar price, which is far better than stock SE suspension bits.

From an 01 Brochure

This quote is from the 2001 Maxima Brochure: "Sport-tuned suspension - firmer front and rear springs, front struts and rear shock absorbers; larger front stabalizer bar." Hope this helps you.

Definitely buy aftermarket springs. Buying the SE setup won't help that much, you might as spend equal money (or a little more) on aftermarket. That will give you a lower ride hight, better handling, and some provide a close to stock ride (comfort wise)

I don't think Nissan engineers communicated with their marketing guys very well on this one because the part numbers for all four shocks and front spring are identical on GXE/SE/GLE, at least for 2K and 2K1 - the only differences are firmer rear springs and a different (thicker) front stabilizer bar.

I may agreee with your statement. You may achieve better results with aftermarket wheels and suspension...although, someone complained that his aftermarket springs were no good after just a year's use? I'd say that OEM stuff is more reliable.
