I went in this morning to give up my ride for the day so the dealer nearest my work could do an oil change and "test" for my "customer complaints". I was armed to the teeth with my TCM TSB hidden in my computer bag, virtually having the whole thing memorized.
I described how the AC blower fan was making a quiet ticking sound at low speed, with the radio off.
Then I described the tranny problem using key words from the TSB. I told how the tranny was making "slow shifts" between 1st and 2nd, between half and full throttle -- more so when it's cold. I said it felt like it was "slipping", and that a friend of mine had a newer one that shifted much more crisply (you guys are all my friends, right?
) I suggested he try driving it after lunch. I didn't show him the TSB I had printed -- I was saving that for round 2.
I was initially disconcerted when he repeated my description with "slow shifts???" and "between half and full throtle???" as though I was speaking Martian.
Then, after lunch, he called back.
"Well, we couldn't fix everything today. We got your oil change done, but we had to order the parts. I think we ordered a piece for the blower fan, and a new transmission control module. Don't worry, it's all under warranty."
WOHOO... Parts are on the way!!! No mess, no fuss!
Now I'm a little disappointed. I was prepared for battle and it didn't even happen. Not that disappointed, though.

Yeah, I remember all the "fun" you had. I went to World Car on I-35. I figured if they wouldn't cooperate, I'd go to Gunn next, then Ingram. Ancira has a bad history with my wife and I, so my family's kinda boycotting them.
Funny thing I saw at World Car, though. They had a listing of who were supposed to be the best service dealerships in the region. They were basically listed no. 2 under Gunn. Didn't see mention of the other two here in SA.
BTW, on behalf of all the pre-May '00 auto Max owners here, thank you for pioneering the TCU prob for us!!! Sorry you went through so much he#! to get there.
