Anyone w/ a 2k2 auto race a Cadillac?
I realize that sounds kind of dumb but there's a guy at my work who just bought a 2k2 Cadillac ETC(300hp) and is ULTRA competitive and wants to race. He wants to race for $1k. I told him no, I would just run for fun. I believe this Caddy is a low 15sec car which would've probably been a good run for my 99SE 5spd with an intake. I would think my auto (stock at this point) should run mid to high 14s'. Any input?

They come with CVT's. Not sure about the Manual. CVT's, in my opinion, are better than normal auto tranny's as it's always at the optimal "gear" and right smack in the powerband.
Given the cars weight he roughly has 12.88lbs./hp to carry. Pretty close (if not matching) the 2k2 Maxima's Power/weight ratio territory.
It's also a FWD so he may or may not have good traction from a stop so if you're good with launches you may take him out up to a certain speed. After that it's all about torque, something he has gobs off.
All in all it's a *very* close race IMHO.

I just talked with this guy. He "apparently" blew the doors off a Mitsu 3000GT VR4 the other day. My response was "did the guy know you were racing"?
We are at approximately 4700' elevation, a boosted car like a VR4 would have a HUGE advantage over a normally aspirated Caddy. I believe a VR4 runs roughly 14.0 at sea level so now it's even more obvious this guy needs to put down the crack pipe.

CVT's?!? Caddy ain't got no stinkin' CVT!
Ummm...the 2k2 ETC (Eldo Touring Coupe) comes standard with the Northstar and the GM 4L60 electronic 4 speed automatic. No CVT here! The 4.6L has 300hp, but it's got to rev pretty high to get the power.
Do it at a track with timing lights, so he doesn't get the jump on you, then take his $1,000 and get some NOS, so you can fool ALL of the people ALL of the time!

Sorry 'bout that. Was basing it on the Cars.com description.
Anyway, if Cadillac's own posted numbers are correct it does 0-60 in 6.9

Be Careful!!!
I owned a 96 STS (same car but 4dr) and it was pretty quick. I have a 2K1 auto and I'd have to say the Caddy was quite a bit quicker. The 2K2 Max should be close but I still don't think it will keep up after 80mph or so. Remember "There's no substitute for cubic inches"
