Selling my 2kauto! 2k2 Max or Altima!?

Hey guys,

I'm getting rid of the old autotragic. As much as I love it, it just doesn't satisfy my need for speed. So I have a few questions bear with me, I've read posted opinions already but would like some fresh perspectives. Also those that want to flame me with "don't waste your money on another nissan" can go shove it. If I wanted opinions on other vehicle brands I'd go to their respective forums. Sorry, just tired of seeing nissan bashing.

Anyway, Should I go with the 2k2 6 speed SE max or the 2k2 5-speed altima SE?

Does the altima have an independant rear suspension? I had read on newcartestdrive.com that it handles better than the maxima, but I dunno if these guys have any Idea what they're talking about.

The new G35 platform is supposed to have the engine placed farther behind the front axle and thus achieving a 52/58 FR weight ratio for better handling. I find this pretty impressive and wonder if this apply's for the new altima as well.

Maxima benifits (that I know about)
Faster than Altima
Roomier
Better standard options
Can change out altezza's for old SE lights
Xenons standard =)
six speeeeed
HLSD

Altima benefits
Handles better???
newer platform, new styling
cheaper
cool interior

Oh, and one last question, d'ya think I can force fit my stillen body kit on a 2k2 max? hehe

I'd appreciate your opinions, thanks.

I believe the Altima is more roomy than the Maxima, at least that's what the brochure say. Sitting in them I can't tell a BIG difference.
With the Altima you get the car for a lower price. In Canada they are over $3,000 cheaper. They have the IRS, so handling is supposively better. The body is new and refreshing.

With the Max, you get a much nicer interior. Who knows which is faster. One can definitely tell the Max is a more expensive car. The hood do not need a prong to hold it up, and the side mirrors folds both ways. The gauges I like more than the orange Altima gauges. And remember, Maxima is flagship Nissan.

Buy the Max, better interior. The speed is about equal. I got my Max for less then a comparably equiped (even then the Max gives you more). I paid 27k (loaded -NAV) and the highest end Alt was $27,500. No pwr passenger seat, look at the fuel door release (after thought), heated steering wheel, and on and on.

I'd say Max all the way, especially now that many dealers are asking more for the Altima b/c of its newfound status with magazines.

I'm waiting till the end of the year to see what the new 2003 looks like. I will get then the 2K2 6-speed with HLSD or a 2K3 Maxima

G35? A totally different car. It is rear drive. Altima or Max? MAX! The Altima is VERY cheap in comparison. Max is without a dought a better car to me. IRS in Altima? YES....That is one thing Alti has for it.

GO MAXIMA SE 6 SPEED!!!

6 speed HLSD Max!!!

The Maxima interior, 6speed gearbox,
and HLSD won me over. The Altima 3.5 SE
5 speed is a good car, but for the
money you're paying you may as well
tighten that belt of yours just a tad
bit more and spring for the 6spd HLSD
Max. Just my 0.02 worth!

Go ask the same Q on Altima board (if you can find one)and see what kind of answers you'll get.

Advice

Go drive them both, then make sure you can get what you want for your Max. I paid $250 over dealer invoice on my fully loaded (minus the NAV)SE HLSD 6 spd. in the Northern VA(high cost of living) area, I would suspect you could get that price too. Make sure they do not try and hit you with a marketing fee. Nissan is currently offering 3.9 for 60 months or $1,000 cash back on the Maxima, which is a nice deal.

Right, nice car, unfortunately I don't have 4 maximas to trade in

Anyway, yeah I think I'm pretty much settled on the new max..

the new Alty is nice though, and yes G35 is FWD and shares the same platform as the altima
