The 2002 Maxima is also #3 on the list of cars that set the standard for their class (the Altima didn't make the list ).

Don't get too excited...

The Camaro was in 8th place. Chevy should sell about 15 of those this year. So much for "what consumer's want"

The Maxima also had a larger increase in sales from 2001 than the redesigned Altima, from Nissan News.com 36% for the Maxima and 28% for the Altima.

Easy now, it's a good car, that GM failed to make great. The V8's sell well, but the V6's fail to sell. Moostangs sell well because the V6 appeals to female buyers (Much easier then the FBody to get in and out of). That LS1 V8 is the best motor I have ever had, dead reliable and torquey as hell.

Maybe Mr. Lutz will bring us another V8 sports car, rather than the 40k model truck (SSR) they are bringing.

My point was that "what consumers want" isn't necessarily "what consumers buy." I agree, the Camaro is a great car. I had one an ran it to over 100k with no problems.
