Russ - you haven't decided yet? I thought you had already signed the papers and were just waiting for the car to come in
I still think you should get a 2k2 6spd
Why spend tons of extra cash and risk having the warranty void again by modding the crap out of a VW to run low-14's when you could do it in the 2k2 6spd stock!

If I spend damn 26k on a car, I don't like to be told how I treat my own damn car. They just need to fix the problems. Lexus would never do this, Honda, Pontiac (hate to say), and many others.

I've heard an awful lot of dealership horror stories from Vortex, and Edmunds Town Hall to be very leary about VW.

I'm not sure where you get your information, but it seems to be opposite all that I've ever heard about VW's. However, I haven't done extensive research, so I won't claim omniscience on this.
Also, I think its fairly ignorant to imagine that a dealer will just "fix the problems" without regard to how you treat your "own damn car." The way you treat your car is key to a dealership honoring a warranty (read the warranty...it is in writing). If a Lexus reflected significant wear-and-tear after less than one year of onwership, you can bet your a$$ that the service dept. would raise some red flags. It just happens that there aren't many Lexus drivers, comparably, who shred their cars on the road, with modifications, or on the track. That dealership is perfectly within their rights to claim that a car's damage was due to owner-error rather than "natural causes."
If you want to race your car, modify your car, etc., etc., it is pretty much universally accepted that you better have a good relationship with the service department of your local dealership in advance of that behavior to ensure that problems like you're experiencing do not surface.

Russ buddy old pal, if you're going to mod your car and want to keep the warranty I've got three letters for you TRD. That's the only option I see. Pay out the nose for the TRD stuff.
It doesn't sound like you know who did what wrong. The warranty states, you race, you lose your warranty. Pretty simple to me. Did you race the car? It doesn't sound like you've decided if you have yet or not. LOL...
As for the VW, which car are you waiting for? I'm curious.
My sister had 91 GTI, it had 10 pieces (I counted them) missing from the exterior of the car, they just fell off, one broken door handle (the metal broke in half) and was blowing blue smoke by 100,000 miles. The drivers side seat would move 1/2" in every direction yet every bolt I could get to was bolted down tight. However the car was fun to drive, peppy, cornered nice. She put $2000 into it in 3 years. The newer ones are better but I'd be concerned. Better have a good rep with the service guy's.
As always Russ, I'd recommend getting a 3 year old reliable type car. Honda, Toyota , Nissan. They're cheaper yet reliable plus you can mod the heck out of them and not worry about the warranty. Or if your set on a new one lease has your name written all over it.

Russ is hung up on the notion that a warranty saves him from his own, IMHO, stupidity of racing a vehicle in the first place. They weren't designed to be raced and the dealer isn't going to bend over and take it up the butt to support Russ's racing habit.
That being said, Russ got screwed by Nissan on the 2k autotragic, and his (I believe) 98 engine blow because of water in the intake was legitimate. The dealer has been stupid, which has made Russ bitter. Also, Russ has admitted to racing the vehicle (even though he has distorted the truth at the beginning of this thread only to then admit he had raced without really admitting he raced in the first place) which has made the dealer bitter.
Regardless, Russ should probably part ways with Nissan and go somewhere else. The question is, where? Unless he went with the IS300 and a dealer installed blower I'm clueless as to what else he could do that would get his butt kissed by a dealer for abusing the vehicle.....

That includes the *drum roll* Comptech Supercharger which is due to be released in just a short while now too.

Well, let me remind ya the dealer only saw my car stock. They never saw it modded. They just had one of there guys say they saw me, and it went from there. Happened on my 98, 2k, and now 2k1. I am ticked with Nissan, so I am leaving them.
VW = Neuspeed is covered under warranty, its a german part manufacture.
