Hey so I think I've decided that my next mod is an exhaust. I'm kinda low on funds as you guys all know I'm 16 and basicly don't work (I got gas yesterday with dimes and quarters!!!!)

Well how much you guys think I should fork out for a decent exhaust. Nice deep sound is what I'm lookin for. Any tips on what to look for and where to shop. THen as far as installation goes where shoudl I go and about how much? thanks for the help!!!

 

dude.....you're definitely gonna have to start working or something cuz you're gonna need to spend about $350 - $ 550 for a quality exhaust with a nice deep sound. I got the HKS rear section for about $350 shipped. But I believe the loudest and deepest sounding exhaust set up available is the Greddy catback. That should run you atleast $500 not including shipping. If you want your sh*t to get real loud and real fast ...get a y-pipe first! The y-pipe/ exhaust combo is supposed to put off some serious noise......can't wait to get mine.
Y-pipe will run you about $300 - $400 depending on where ya get it.

either way..... yo *** bettah get a job now....or you can always beg mommy and daddy for some mod money.....

 

I got a hi flow cat and 2.5" catback exhaust with a Remus muffler...
It sounds great, very mean but not too loud...
I paid $200 for the cat, $250 for the cat-back, and the Remus muffler is worth about $500...

Since you're not too far (I'm in NJ) I would be willing to give you all that for just a little money and your stock cat and muffler...

All this stuff is only a few months old...

Definitely go w/ a y-pipe first (I recommend Cattman). Y is cheaper than an exhaust, gives you more HP, and adds a deeper sound. It's the best deal going in mods, that, and a CAI.

whatever exhaust you get, DO NOT GET DTR/DTM type tips! it's the ones where they angle UP...like the german type exhausts... they do NOT look good on the maxima.

 

If all you want is the noise, you could just get a muffler. You can get a Powertech muffler for about $125. Bigdogjonx has one installed on his car.

 

I heard that the y-pipe with stock exhaust (catback) doesn't add that much noise at all. Maybe a little at WOT, but it will add power.

 

it will give you a low deep growl, it wouldn't be that loud(which i like) so its stright for the performence

how much hp roughly you can get from:
A Y-pipe, a muffler and a hi-flow cat

 

Get the HKS, It looks good and sounds mean. BTW, How do you afford to maintain your car?

Okay so what do u guys think would be cheaper a muffler or y pipe? SO I think Ill get a muffler now lol.

Cisco: Since the maxima is such a great car theres really no maintenance. I just did my 30k in my ghetto garage which included changng my oil, I use 10w-30 mobil 1 every 5k which my mom pays for in additon to a pureone oil filter and a pureone air filter. Gas just comes and left over money = mods

 

Y-Pipe: $350+
Name brand Muffler: $300+
Universal Muffler: $100+

Go with the Y-pipe, it will yield better performance.

u know what u can do, go search on ebay, just bid the universal mufflers like




this one or this one i think these are good enough for u, and this all have the nice deep sound and of course, there are plany of them, just search on ebay, u will get what u want.

 

Call local shops in your area. One shop in my area will do a catback for 190. Not that bad of a price. It includes labor and a muffler. Lifetime warranty too.

Wow, only 16. Bought gas with dimes and quarters. How did you get your Max and all of those listed mods at that age without a job? I'm 35 and just bought my first Maxima last year. The Max is my dream car. It just blows me away when I hear of stories like this. You are really lucky my man. You should have seen my first car when I was 16. Nah, you don't want to see it. If you don't have the money now, just be happy that at the age of 16 that you own a Maxima and drive it stock.

 

well mommy and daddy bought the maxy however im not sure if u can consider those "mods" more like rice toys. I forked out 7 grand for the car and they paid the rest so well I know im pretty lucky and I love my car, i truely do

If you want performance get a y-pipe. You have a Maxima...DONT RICE IT OUT!

 

yeah..without any type of emblem it doesnt look good imo. by the way..The "R" is for Rafin...none of the type R hunduh B$. maybe after i get a y pipe and a couple more mods i can change it to GTR.

If you think your "ricing around" now without the exhaust, then you have it backward. Ricers are the people who just have big loud muffler that does nothing but make noise and get them harassed by the cops.

If you want better performance, get a y-pipe. YOU HAVE A MAXIMA! DONT RICE IT OUT! If you can hardly afford gas, and you cant afford any real exhaust mods, then you deffinately cant afford the TICKETS that ricing out your car will get you!

by exhaust i didn't really mean only the muffler i meant more things, the reason I said it liek that was cause well it's my only perf mod. And I mean i messa round alot on how my cars is rice but in reality I stopped triple parking a couple months ago *couple months is alot since i only got my license sept,01* nozzle lights have been disconnected and well my only rice thing is seatbelt pads but we all know those add a minimum of 5-10 hp EACH Don't worry I'll try not to give the maxima a bad name, plus i know if i do ill get a whoop a$$ from one of you so....

Hey, I just don't want to see a kid with a sweet maxima go the route of the ricer boys. When I was your age, I knew tons of people with riced out hondas and all the drops and exhausts ever did was get us pulled over, harassed, searched, and ticketed every friday night. If you want a little extra performance and a bit of a growl, get a high flow intake and/or a y-pipe.

 

yah I mean theres alot of stuff maybe you guys dont like. MaximaRacer28 (mike) doesnt like my euro plates or deflector, I do so f him you know lol. I mean I did put nozzle lights on a while ago and I did get pulled over and I know what your talkin about. So I cut the wires. Yah my next mod is an intake I just have to do some more reading into it. Too much money for an exhaust system for me. BTW I like your kit. do you have any more pics? which kit is it? $$$?

35% tints all around..looks pretty dark cause of the black leather interior the the grey lustre exterior. i was thinking 20's though..but thats under the legal limit. jamaica, queens, or nassau county in long island.
