so i'm thinking about changing to 5 speed

so i'm thinking about changing to 5 speed
bear with me here cuz i'm learning everything i know about cars by working on my max.
what would i need to switch my 2k max to a manual tranny? so far i can think of:
transmission, either new or from a wrecked 5th gen
shifter, either stillen or from a wrecked 5th gen
clutch and new brake pedal
center console surround with shifter boot and sealing thingy
that's it. i don't know enough about this stuff to really come up with more, but i know there's got to be more to it.
as for the install, my good friend is experienced in this stuff so he can help and i have a trusted mechanic that i can always go to. but i'd rather have my friend do it with me helping so i can learn more.
i've read that the 4th gen guys have done this, any thoughts on this? is it realistic?

I don't want to rain on your parade, because I'd love to see someone do it. However, you would probably be better off selling/trading in and just buying a 2K2 6-speed. More power, HLSD, and an extra gear.

i just posted in the 4th gen forum to get their opinions.
and yeah, the more i think about it, the more a 2k2 makes sense. even a 2k1 5sp would be cool. if i can find one i like still sitting around somewhere, i think i could get a pretty good deal now.
geez, when i think about it that way, my auto ain't so bad

honestly, i've just got this gnarly mod bug and i want to do something significant. if this tranny thing is going to run me close to 5k, i'd just assume get a v2.

Get the V2 and beef up the tranny.

I'm guessing at least $5K and lots of headaches being the first to do it on a 2K.

Some guy's selling his 4th gen tranny for $1200, it's a complete conversion kit so he says. I don't see any reason why it should not fit.
I personally considered this as well, but I ended up deciding i'd put a little extra money into trading in for a 2k2, HLSD, extra gear, 33 more hps, 17's and a color I like, can't go wrong.
Where in so cal are you?
