HELP!!! Brakes are shot and making noise.

OK, so just now I get into my car and start driving, and my brakes make this rubbing noise. The noise was there when I first applied the brakes and it was also there when I let of the brakes. However, it went away after a few blocks. It was definately comming from the front.

I knew my brakes were dying anyway, but now I am scared to drive my car. Ordering Axxis Ultimate pads tomarow morning for sure. Is it dangerous to drive around the city (i.e. to school) with toasted brake pads? Will I screw up my rotors, calipers, etc?

thanks
Daniel

Your rotors, mostly. I wouldn't drive the car with screaming brakes - Maxima has enough rotor problems without riding worn out pads. The sound means that your pad wear indicator is rubbing against the rotor surface and usually it doesn't depend if you're applying brakes or not.

Mike.
