David is. I can't remember David's last name, but I've chatted with him a few times, he's done a few mod write ups (autodim mirror i think was one). He was here alot when the 5th gens first came out. As I recall he sold his OEM 16's to Kaleb (who worked at Courtesy at the time). They were both pleased with the transaction.

Thats by no means a referral, but I think David is an actual member here and has had good dealings. It looks ALOT like the same guy...

Shoot, I love those lights. Just don't have the $$$ now. I just bought an HKS. Maybe around April or May if the HID's are still around.

 

I would buy them right now, if I only had someone to install them for me. I'm getting mine replaced ('00 lights with the AE '01 bronze). Those are like $200 each, If yours for the pair I could get at $400 I would in a snap. Its just trying to get someone to install it as I would screw it up.

couldnt be easier really.. ok, it could but its really about a 2-3 hour job at most. Most of that time is just trying to be careful.

So far, no one has messed up their car even with some funky miswiring. All the complicated talk about auto-dim and alarm flash rewire we have given up on because the 2k2 max works the same way.

So, its a snip and crimp job (or solder). You may opt for the highbeam relay, but even that is easier than installing a headunit and amp in your car...

don't let these go because you think the install will be too hard.

 

I could help you install them when I get home in the summer.

 

You do need the 2K2 clips! They prevent the headlamps from wiggling and causing you to get high-beamed a lot.

I went for a long time without installing mine, but it finally got so bad, I installed them yesterday. Only took 10-mins. and I didn't even have to remove the housings. Just poped the grill clips, removed the two 10-mm bolts and reached in behind. I feel like a fool waiting so long to get around to it. Oh well. They still seem to wiggle slightly though, but not near as much.

 

On eBay you say that you ship only US. What about Canada? I could be interested....

I was a little worried about dealing with international shipping with randoms on ebay. I'll do it for an org member though (as long as your status is above lurker!) ... might have to charge a little more on the shipping (because I think it costs more).. would just charge you the difference between US and Canada.

Thanks for the info. I can't edit the description anymore, but I'll let them buyer know he should order those. I just got a price quote of $6.00, part # 263982Y001 from SouthPoint, for each clip.

If the clips do not come with the 2k2 lights, where do they come from? Example: if I get the front bumper do they come with that? I ask this becuase if they do, does that mean I need to get the '00 clips seperate for my AE lights with a 2k2 bumper? Hope that made sense.

 

No, the clips are not "included". Everything is piece-by-piece, so the bodyshop will need to talk to an experienced Nissan Parts guy to know FOR SURE what's necessary. The mounts where the clips go on the 2K-2K1 and the 2K2 are the same, it's just the plastic clips that are different.

If you go with the 2K1 AE headlamps and the 2K2 bumper, you will just need to buy the 2K-2K1 clips.

I found out that Dave's not there anymore... The guy who answered the phone (who wasn't as familiar with this mod), said he's been gone for sometime, so I'd try courtesyparts.com. If I get a chance this week, I'm going to swing by my Nissan dealer here and see if they might be able to get them and save someone the trouble.

 

This is his NEW number at Maxwell Town North Nissan/Mitsubishi. Just talked to him today.

His prices are cheaper then Courtesy Nissan on everything I've ordered.

 

The clips snap into the chassis of the car and not into the bumper so the clips that you need are for whatever year headlamp you are going to put in regardless of the bumper. So for 2000-01 cars, you need the 00-01 clip for the stock lights or AE lights, but need the 02 clip for the HIDs. For 2002, 02 clips are needed for stock HIDs, but 00-01 clips are needed for AE or stock 00-01 lamps...although I don't know why they would swap it out. I hope that this helps to clear it up.

And to the high bidder of the lamps if they are a .org member. Don't worry about acquiring the clips, we'll point you in the right direction, as they pretty much already have. Good luck to the highest bidder!

I went ahead and picked up the clips from my Nissan dealer today (they actually had them in stock and didn't have to order them!) I'll just throw them in with it... so I think that should be everything from Nissan needed to do the install.

 

They're up to $910 with 2+ days left. Wish I would have got the extra set I ordered. Oh well.

Someone needs to join the Maxima.org and save some money by going with Tustin Nissan.

Last I heard Tustin Nissan was selling a pair for around $750. I guess those were the remaining pairs they had in stock before the price increase. If so, they were making a hell of a markup.

I called Dave B. today and he says INVOICE is around $550 per side, so $1100/pr+clips+connectors.

I guess $910+$40 shipping is still a deal compare to INVOICE, but the bidding isn't over yet.

 

only $1100 with connectors and clips that's it, I thought it would be more.
