Stock Tire Question/help

I know this question was raised up before, but if anyone here tried changing their stock 222/50/17 on the stock 17X7, what tire did you replace it with, size and name brand. Also did it bulge?

Yokohama YK420's

Went with 225/55 17.

Plus's:
-taller sidewall, better bump and pothole ride
-long treadlife (at least from what is said about them)
-outstanding wet weather performance!!!!
-right about $95.00 each from www.discounttire.com

Minus's:
-gave up some cornering and sharpness
that's about it

If you want to autocross, this is not a good tire, but if you want a comfortable tire with good wet handling at a reasonable price, look into it. And yes, they have held the road just fine at 120mph+.

im about to replace mine with kumho 235/45/17 on stock rims. getting them for about 105 a piece. i know the whole 7" rim ordeal but i also know the DOT allows for a margin of error. enough people on here have run them without problems or bulging so im going with that.

yeah sloppymax i think you are right. i may consider the same too and as for jjs, i think 55 is too high. I wanted something that is wider and lower profile than 50. so 55 would be too high, besides i have Eibachs so i don't want fender rubbing or hits. thanks for both of your replies guys.

litte harder ride but great handling much much much better than stock tires. also very good in rain.

I will look into the Bridgestone. I kinda like the quite ride with the bridgestone. I want to get 235/45/17 on my stock 17 rims and buy H & R wheel spacers to push them out a little. Thanks for the idea Betacam

runnin 245-45-17 BF Goodrich KDWS' on my 2kSE - no problems on the 7" stock rims after ~4k miles - got them for $600 a set along with a free G-Tech G-meter (a fun toy that every Max owner should have - Goodrich was running a special back in August. This thing takes the subjectiveness out of handling evaluations!!!)

They are a huge improvement over the RE-92 sucko's.
Compare well with the Yoko AVS-Intermediates that I usually buy for my other cars (porsche's )

Great wet performance, reasonable snow, quieter ride...matched my needs since it's always wet here and wanted the wife to be safe if she got caught away from home when it snowed.

Can't wait till my 2k1SE scrubs the RE92's on it...gotta hit peak G's as much as possible and burn off that OEM rubber.
