Where to host mpeg files for free?

I know Geocities will let me, but there's a bandwidth limit. Any tips? Thanks!

They give you up to 15megs for free.... Or was it 10... You have to browse around for it but I know they offer free FTP space...

Thanks YJ, but I don't want to trouble you and/or take up your server space.

But I can't convert .mpg to .qt, .mov, or .avi.

"Video files must be no larger than 4 MB and are accepted in QuickTime (.qt, .mov) or AVI (.avi) formats."

Why don't you setup an FTP server on your PC (assuming you have high speed)? There is freeware FTP server software out there and you don't have to worry about limits. This way you have complete control over the content.

It's not a static IP, so I'll have to change the link everytime the server assigns my comp a new address.

You may want to look into 3 things (long shot, but who knows).

1.) Sometimes the ISPs say that they are giving dynamic address's, but really they are not. Depending on the type of DHCP Server (NT, Cisco Router, etc.) that is being used, the DHCP server may give the same IP address to the same MAC address if it can. Meaning, even though you are requesting a new IP everytime yours expire, you may be geting the same one over and over again. I would monitor it for a week or so and see what they are doing.

2.) Some ISPs will offer dynamic DNS. May want to see if your ISP will do that. I have some friends that have done that before...my ISP does not do that though.

3.) A lot of ISP's offer static IPs for $5 extra a month...maybe a small price to pay for the services you are looking for.

I'm on AT&T. Thanks for the advice, I'll check with my coworkers to see if anyone is running a server from home.

Kev,
Have you thought about starting a private group over at Yahoo? You can store tons of stuff over there for free and limit access to just friends or whomever.

Thanks for the suggestion, Jim. I'll look into that if the AT&T thing doesn't work out.

Just to correct RBa, I don't use f2s.com for movies. I use it for my pics.

I bought webspace but I doubt that's what you want cause you just want something temporary, right?

a) What gave you that idea?

b) I'm just looking for a static IP. Maybe I'll register for a domain name once I know it's static.

c) What does the search feature have to do with this?

d) Reverse psychology will not work on me... I'm not going to ask you.

Yeah, just something temporary, Calvin.
