Saw the 350Z-and my Max! ...Sorta.

As I walked in to the 2002 Dallas Auto Show last night (wasn't able to make it up to Detroit this year...), I dashed over to the Nissan display-and sure enough, a right-hand drive 350Z was on prominent display. Simply beautiful. I liked it well enough from the pics, but after seeing it in person, I'll have to say that it's much better in seeing it up close and personal-pics don't do it justice.

Seeing the 350Z look that good was a relief to me, simply because the only car to me that could match/exceed the purity of form of the '89-96' Z-cars is the Ferrari 360 Modena.

The 350Z dosen't have that purity of form, but it still carries the styling cues from the previous Z-cars extrememly well. I like it!

And, as an added bonus, I looked over and saw a Majestic blue SE not 30 feet from the Z platform. My Car! I walked over to check out the interior, and saw it had the Nav system installed. I played with it for a bit and came away with the distinct impression that it would be rather cool to have that in mine, since I have the Bose. The dealer didn't have any Maximas with the Nav when I bought mine-otherwise I would have really considered getting it.

If anybody out there has a 2k2 with the Nav, what's it like everyday? Likes, dislikes, quirks, etc...

And, if anyone knows...I wonder how much it'd be to go back to the dealer and have them install one.

Re: 2k2 w/ NAV

I have the NAV in my 2k2 and simply love it! I've lived in Houston, Tx my whole life, so I know where most things are. With that said, you'd be surprised how often this can be used. It's great anytime I'm meeting someone for dinner at an unknown resturaunt, club, wedding, traveling, etc. I just plug the address in and "Roxy" gets me there! That's the name for my NAV system. No, I'm not mental or anything, (well, that's what my psycholgist say anyway...) With that pleasant female voice, that visually and audibly guides you where to go, I just had to name her!

The negatives on it are definately: 1) price. I got it for invoice ($1750.00), but still that's a whole lot of mods. (To me it's still worth it though, since it is the ultimate in convenience.) and 2) I like to keep it off when I'm not using it, and have to manually turn it off, since it automatically comes on w/ ignition. A rather small complaint. (although sometimes at night I leave it on even though I may not be using it, just to get those looks from some people that think to themselves: "Damn, what's that in his car?"

Hope that helps a little,

Re: Houston Auto show

The Houston Auto Show is the first event to be held at the new Reliant Center April 13-21. (I don't now why it so late this year.) Sux! I still be there, though! I haven't missed an auto show since I was about 13 yrs old!

Relax, my man, relax...

I'll be loading them on the site here in a bit-I did get pics. From what I could see on the 1 inch screen on my camera, I think they turned out well.

Thanks for the pics, I really like those rims even though they're similar to mine, there's something about 'em, I wonder how much they weigh.

If price is at all a concern, then the Max is your vest option. A fully loaded G35 will be right around $35k, a fully loaded Max(w-out Navi) is right at $30K, if you are local I have seen discounts @ Trophy in last week's Dallas Morning News of $5k, making that Max $25k. I own a 2k Automagic. I'm probably going to wait until this Summer of Fall and see how much prices drop on the 2K2's. If I can get one right around $23(w-out Navi), I'll take a bath on my 2K. I guess bottom line, get out and test drive them, see what you like the best. I will get a 6 spd. next, but not if I lived in Plano. way too much traffic to deal with. Good luck.
