I was just thinking, I was in a front end hit, and my airbags didn't deploy. Does that mean its defective or that I stopped fast enough to be hitting at like 5mph or something?

 

There are sensors all over your engine bay, and unless the sensor are in any hit at a certain poundage they will not deploy. I think any collision any 20mph or somewhere around that mark will not deploy them, because they would simply cause more damage than help to the driver/passengers. I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

 

I guess I should feel happy. I wear glasses, that would've left a mark on me. :P

 

The car has to decelerate 18 mph in 1/10th of a second to deploy the airbags, most low speed collisions will not activate the system.
