I custom moded the 5th gen max AUTO tranny to extreme lengths (you want to read this)
All right I told a few that I would be posting this as soon as possible. So here you go this is the list of what was done to it, with some descriptions for those that might not know what it all is.
-Possitraction-
for those that don’t know the max is only a onewheel drive car and when you want to put power down that sucks. So this allows power to flow to that wheel and then when it’s had enough and can’t handle it, it splits power between both front wheels. Which means no spinning and a lot of traction.
-Upgraded the transaxle for extreme duty application. -
Which means durability upgrades, balancing of internal components, a NEW and better valve body modification, and CUSTOM transmission fluid.
-Custom axle-
-Custom transaxle housing-
-Heavy duty differential-
-Torrington bearing set-
-Teflon busing kit-
-Kolene direct steel.-
This is a treatment to the outside of the transmission caseing, which makes it much stronger and heat resistant, and it is used on 2000 hp drag cars. So heat will not be a problem.
-Ceramic Clutch disks-
these disks are very very strong and very heat resistant as well, and more where added.
-Kevlar bands
-Billet clutch drum (high drum)-
-Race sleeves-
-Tapered roller bearings-
-Grade A bolts-
-Ring and pinion Gear Set-
-Case harden the torque converter, input hub and fluid balance the converter
-Hardened the input shaft-
-New gear ratio-
-Pressure switch which means there is a switch mounted on the dash that allows me to select between the transmission engaging smooth for street use or extreme slam for track use. Or in between.
-There are also some other things and some more things to these things but due to patents not being done I am not allowed to discuss them.
-Impressions:
Well I did not pick it up but I guess you want to know what it drives like. I sent my friend/installer to pick it up. He drove it around for a while to see what he thought and then dropped it off at the performance shop for more boost and the INTERCOOLER along with other things, which is the main reason we beefed up the transmission so much.
But anyway here are some of his comments:
“This made more of a difference than the supercharger.”
“ O my god”
“ This things drops right down into gear”
“There is no lag what so ever”
“It feels like it just want to pull so much harder”
“There is no wheel spin at all”
“ You know b4 how there’d be a half second before it would kick down, not anymore right down”
“Worth every penny”
“This is sick”
“The rpms stay a lot lower”
“You can just feel all the power on tap”
“The pedal feels much more responsive”
And last and most impressive of his comments
“This is much better than a five speed manual”
Those are some of the things he had to say. Hope this shows you that auto’s don’t have to be bad. So any manny’s want to race?

It's not like it is some risk to national security. Sounds awesome though and if it wasn't too outrageously expensive I'm sure you'd have quite a few guys here interested in these mods including myself.

What I don't get is why sombody like my self does somthing so new and so much better than whats out there and all this forum wants to do is come down on people who try to respect others wishes. Thats all I'm trying to do. He asked me not to and I'm respecting that.

j/k relax I just wanted people to see this for the kewlness of it without asking the age old q, how much, before judgeing it.
We are asking the cost because all of us automagic owners would like to have this kind of performance and would like to know if it is obtainable for us. I don't see why you say we are coming down on you? And to think of it, wouldn't you want to hook up your man with more business since he hooked you up??? If you wanted to keep this a secret, I can surely understand... but then you posted, so of course.... enquiring minds want to know!

My answers to your questions, its obvious L 10 doesn't offer the above, but I'm not the average "driver."

Ceramic is far better and used in massive racing situations along with porches. And you are right they can eat into the casing. Which if you read is why the casing was moded.
We do share somthings. Does that surprise you. I don't knock level ten they do good work.

I coulda had ceramic, but too much potential for a nissan tranny to shed a piece of metal and then the anarchy begins, the kevlar may not be some "fancy race" material, but I don't need it anyway. As for my case and gears, yeah cryo-heat treated.
VB, my own modification after L10 wouldn't go that far.
ATF MOTUL. TC Billet, heated.

I realize what you've listed, and its very impressive, but do you have 700hp @ crank ? Kinda overkill, but glad to know that you have an "insurance" policy w/ 5th gen trannies blowing w/o Boost.
I give you credit for doing it in the first place, and you've been given credit for your car.
Why do you think I don't bother listing my specific mods.

Yes we do share kevlar bands and torington barings in some other small thins in comon but you and I know that those are the small things and does not put them on the same level. You and I also know I don't need and f1 tranny. And it's not quite the extreme of 700 hp durability
And not really alot of overkill. It will take the power that it will be feed. and maintain extreme traction thats what I wanted, without wearing down after a few years, I mean after all who wants to replace it 10 years from now? and thats what ive tried to protect against, that and acually use the power I'll be making. Instead of wasting so much. Afterall if your gonna pay to make it why not put it down?

By the way at what mph is your arm moving when you shift at .003 secs? Cuz thats what an auto tranny shifting right does. Well ok I don't know the time but you get my point.
Sounds AWESOME, but ...
Are you going to take it to the track? If so, when?
I don't know how else you can prove how much difference it made. I would really like to know how much time it knocks off the 1/4.
Keep us posted.

There is 4 ways to prove the diff it makes.
1st drive it. lag like factory vs no lag like now. thats one way to tell.
2nd. dyno, hp and torque b4 vs after with the tranny moded
3rd, wheel spin, b4 i'd roast the tire for hours, now no wheel spin.
4th, heat, b4 it'd get pretty hot, now shoun't be near as hot, but i'd need a guage to tell and i don't have one. o well.

or are you really saying "I'm taking a bold step into the unknown and letting you know about it for the greater good of the .org...I'm going to do some R&D and get back to you if it becomes available or I garner useful info from it."
Try to understand our point of view, I'm sure your car is damn fast and hope you enjoy your new mods.

look man, without your S/C, you can dream on going faster than 5spd. How do you know that your tranny shifts in .003 sec, did you install a precise programmable device that shifts exactly in that time? lol. But what you got is a very cool thing, dont get me wrong. Especially S/C.

it can't be .003 sec
SMGII(M3) shifts at .08 and its faster then any human shifting.
also...if you don't want to give any info about what you did then why did you even post man...what's the point?

See where it says ok thats not the time but you get my point?
Ok guess not, i'll restat it. The point was simply a normal 5 speed with normal 5 speed mods can still not be shifted as fast as an auto. Power transfer can be over come. The only true disadvatage that can never be over come, is the wieght, thats it. Unless you go with huge sequental and or the ferrri flip padels.
Let me ask you this, if the tranny mod shaved 1 full second off of the zero to sixty time and 1 sec off of the quarter you woun't have anything to say right? Well it's probley close, i don't have the numbers but it's very very possible that it could have shaved .8 and up. But your right I don't have the numbers and we will see just what it's done soon enough.

And the simple point ive tried to make is that this is going to be a kit and most will not want to afford this at retail, and to have the EXACT same thing you'd have to hit the same guy, now granted you could go somwhere else and get somthing close.

Sounds like good stuff...
I am eager to hear how you do on the track and on the dyno. Not that it is on my schedule, with a 5-speed, but I might have one some day and it will be nice to know that there is hope for the slushbox after all.

Waiting to go to the track before the other mods are done is just plain RETARDED!
Then how will you know exactly what the tranny did. If you go NOW while everything else is the same (other than the tranny) you will know exactly what difference the mod made. Otherwise you're comparing apples to oranges (non-intercooled vs intercooled).
If you're truly trying to inspire other auto owners to do a similar mod then you'll go lay down some impressive numbers at the track and report back.

last i knew there are no tracks open right now. Even if they where I would not have been able to. The tranny took so long we acaully missed the orginal appointment for the new stuff (ic and all) so we just droped it off so they can work on it when they have time. As for proof. Well the proof is in the puddin
. The big diff should be just in driving it you should be able to feel a diff that to me is the bigest proof, and truley the most important, after all I will only hit the track once. As for proof for the org, one thing will be the dyno. And let me ask you this? If a air intake makes a big diff to people, and a simple vb mod makes a big diff to people, then don't you think all of this, will make a Huge diff? Lets not over look the big advatage of the possitraction, which is what so many 2k and 2k1 guys keep saying they want now that the 2k2 has it, or at least or form of it.

and not have a supercharger
soomthing is weird
