Hi,

As a recent 2k Maxima myself, I was just wondering what is the age group of the people who would buy these redesigned Maximas? And the reason for buying it?

I'm 25 Male and I think it has the best bang for my hard-earned buck...

I'm a measly 21

and I bought this car shortly after my 21st birthday. I drove almost everything else on the Nissan lot and after the Max I couldn't go back. I initially was planing on a 5 spd Sentra SE. To top it all off, this is the first car I've ever bought.

Nice choice on your first car! I'm old enough, but not too young...

I'm 63. But I bought my first Maxima SE in 1991. I was driving a 280ZX as a bachelor before that, but when I got married and had 2 kids, my wife insisted on a family car. Maybe you remember the TV ads at the time for Maximas, calling them "the four door sports car." That sold me--I only had to give up my 2 door sports car for a 4 door sports car. I still feel that way about my 2000 GLE.

I'm 31, but was only 27 when we bought our '96 (duh! ). I think the official age group per Nissan is mid 40's - 50's but those buyers are generally looking for the usual reliable, roomy, practical car and (unlike Mr. Brow here) don't realize or care about its performance potential.

Age

Im 28, since my first car (which I wont mention) I've had a '94 Civic EX coupe, '96 VW GTI VR6, '98 BMW Z3, and now my 2K Max. Its definately my favorite yet. I may even keep it for more than 2 years.

I'm 24, First car was a Camry at 18, baught it b/c I couldn't afford a maxima in 94, the 4th gens then, got out of high school, got a real job, drove the camry for 2 years, got rid of it, got a 95SE used, drove it for 2 years, sold that Got a 99 4Runner drove it for a years and this now This 2K. Its been a year, I'll give it some more time b/c I really like this 1. might wait til 2003 for the 3.5L ... Over all this is a good car for the money I think and has plenty of power for those unexpected stop light dragzz..

ages was the reason i regestered. now if i could spell that.
well i just hit 18 a month ago and my max is my second car. got it used with 10,500 miles. my other car is a vette yellow 91 sonoma 4 banger soon to be LT1 powered. thats the reason i got this car was for something to drive when the swap is underway. and NO its not gonna stay stock.

Fresh out of college.......Had a 91 max, and was very satisfied with the built quality and reliability so I decided to come back to Nissan again for a 2K.

Absolutely loved the car......

I am 45... Most recently had a 1998 BMW M3. Actually like my Y2k Maxima SE better (well, sort of...)

I was looking for something practical, fun and luxurious. The BMW was horrendously fun, but was less than practical in the snow and rather expensive (both in original cost and maintenance). I like the way the exterior of the Maxima looks, and the interior is both larger and more luxurious than the BMW.

How the !@#$!@# do you guys afford a 2k max at 17, 18, 19 yrs old?!

I'm 22 and no way in Hell can I afford one, even by quitting college and working 70+ hours/week at any of my last job(s)!
The car payment is enough, let alone the extra $400/mo it would cost me to insure the ****!
how do you guys afford mods on top of that? sheesh..
I take it you guys aren't going to college? (well, either that or the parents are helping out immensly in some depertment)

I'm assuming they got big time help from their parents... unless they hit the jackpot trading stocks.

3rd Maxima I've Owned

Yes, this is my 3rd Maxima. I started out at the age of 16 with a 1984 Nissan Maxima (in 1986-I'm 30 years old now ), then a 1989 Nissan Maxima SE 5 spd that has been in my possession or in another family's possession since day 1 (I just recently totalled it with 228,078 miles SHOWING on the odo-it was broken for a year). The car was unstoppable except by accident. And now I have a 2000 Maxima GXE, auto. with the upgraded package. I opted for the GXE because I don't need all the appointments in the GLE, and did not need the sports approach of the SE. The GXE is exactly what I was looking for. Matter of fact, I just put 2200 miles on it in 5 days. Drove superb, but with one minor exception that I will discuss in another thread. I've had other cars, but the Maxima's are by far the best, and most reliable I've owned.

Alright, I'm in. I'm 33 on my first Maxima (5th Gen), and actually my first new car. Previous car was a '92 NX2000 (bought used in 1995). Previous to that was an '84 RX7 (used). And first off, I had a Gremlin in college which was a hand-me-down from an aunt.
