I got my car last fall, and had no trouble with it. I got in the mail a 37500 mile check up. I knew that I needed a oil change and it was ready to go in for service. So I was planning on calling soon and taking it in for service like next week. I was sitting in a parking spot, with the car running and suddenly the check engine light came on I was like WTF. Think oh I doubt it can be much I left and started driving home, and thinking I'll call monday. Then I was in second gear(i have a 5 speed) when the rpms got to around 2700 then it started to sputter like you if your in first gear and your around 4000 rpm's and you let off the gas, and the car starts shaking. Well thats what was occuring to me but in second and third gear when the rpms hit around 2500. I don't know whats wrong, and I'm really worried. Does anyone know how to check the ECU so I can see why the light came on, and does anyone have a idea of why my engine acted like that. I'm about to over here

 

check your intake.. also search, pretty common I think

 

There is a TSB out on the LIMP feature going HAL-9000 on people, but I think it's just under the 2002 Max for now. Talk to your dealer...you'd be amazed at what they'll divulge to you if you tell them you know about TSBs, mine doesn't **** with me when I brought it in for some rattles because I KNEW there were TSBs.

My max used to go into limp mode when i was having MAF problems. The intake i made was coming apart once in awhile at the clamps, because of the material that i used.

 

Do you ride the clutch?
