Strange sound when braking on an '02

Yesterday afternoon, I was pulling out of my driveway in reverse, and as I was coming to a stop, I heard what sounded like something rubbing from the tires/brakes. I put the car in drive, pulled back into the driveway, and again, I heard the sound. I checked under the car, I thought something was stuck under there, but no luck, it was clean. I took the car out for a drive again, but the problem seemed to have disappeared. The only thing I can think of is that I was driving in the rain the night before, could it be from that? I'm thinking of takin it to the dealer just to let them know about it.. any advice or similar experiences would be a great help. Thanks in advance.

It's probably the oxidation on the rotors getting rubbed off by the brake pads. Look at your rotors before you drive next time, especially after you drive in the rain.

it's the small buildup of rust from the rain on the rotors... it wore off when you used the brakes a couple times.

yep, i bet it's the build up of rust on th rotors.

they accumulate in just a few hours! depending on the car.
my bmw 3 series gets a ton of rust overnight, when it rains

BRAKE NOISE

Dont worry about the brake rubbing noise. It is oxidation (RUST) believe it or not it happens very fast for some reason on the 5th generation MAXIMA. I believe the metal that they used in there manufactureing. I have found it to be much softer and faster wearing than normal to give it its 3 sec 60-0 stopping time. In this day and age rotors are cheap as hell so when they wear out you can replace them for about the price of having them cut and turned.
