Headlights from 2k-2k2

MY dad coworker just found his car had missing headlights. Looks like it was stolen. The question is how easy it is to steal? What he is supposed to do to make them not stealable? I mean how to mount them?

For info where it was stolen, it was here in Brooklyn

hmmm..

Since I pulled one of my HIDs out in <2 mins being careful, I would think a thief could yank both in less than a minute. Thats like $90,000 an hour. Not bad for a minutes worth of work

On the ACura TL's you can just use a crowbar from the side and just pop it out. I've seen a few cars driving on the hwy with missing hids.. You can see the dents and scratches on the side where they pulled it off...

I s there any way to prevent thieft of HID, lets say by mounting them special way or secure some way?

Or it is impossible? Because I never see HID being stolen from those BMW cars.

well..

once the hood is open, it's all over.. 2 bolts and yank. Ballasts are part of the lights.

would suck for me because insurance would cover 2k lights cost, not 2k2 lights and 2k light cost wouldn't exceed my deductable. SO, I would just be out of a set of HIDs. Excluding whatever damage they did getting to the lights.

I called my insurance and they will cover as long as I have proof I purchased them. digital pics and reciept will do nicely. Already sent in. I also asked about price, as I got a good deal (400). They have to REPLACE with like if possible.
