Just Got Robbed!!!!!!!!

SOMEONE JUST STOLE MY BIG A$$ 15's OUT OF MY CAR. WITHOUT THE ALARM GOING OFF. THE ALARM WAS SET BECAUSE I ALWAYS CHECK IT TWICE. AFTER THEY FINISHED THE ALARM WILL GO OFF EVERY 10-15 MINS WITHOUT NOTHING TOUCHING IT OR ANYTHING. IS THERE A BYPASS SWITCH ON OUR ALARMS OR ANYTHING!!!! HOW COULD THEY GET PASS THE ALARM WITHOUT IT GOING OFF. I AM SO PI$$ED!!!! Can anyone advise how this could have been possible with no broken glass, no locks removed or damaged and no damage to the trunk.

Have you taken your car in for service at any dealership of any sort recently? If you have, someone at the dealership could have duplicated your key and taken note of your address...it has been known to happen.

Otherwise, I can't respond to your questions about the alarm itself.

What I used to do was get to the battery. sometimes you can get to the cables with bolt cutter from under the car. If you car turns on, it wasn't that, let me try a few thing and get back to you. Sorry to hear of your miss fortune.

Sorry to here the bad news I feel your pain its one of the worst feelings... the nerve of some people.

Hopefully you have renters insurance, a while back when that happened to me the adjuster stated that if I had renters insurance; it would cover the "misc" items. I was lucky, because they still covered almost everything.

If you don't have it now check with your insurance company and see if they offer it.

Or.... anyone with the key and a maxima remote could add his remote to your car's list of remotes in about 20 seconds. Its much easier than duplicating the key, and remotes for different kinds of cars can be had for a song on ebay these days (I picked up two extras for less than $10 each last Sept on ebay). Anyone who has your key out of your site with your car for more than about a minute... is suspect.

Who installed your subs and how long ago were they put in? If a stereo shop did it, did you give them your remote when you handed the car over? They could have grabbed your remote's frequency, or even duplicated your key. I've heard of a lot of instances where car stereo installers have made note of your address and, no big surprise, knows not only exactly what you have to steal but how to steal it.

Even if the above is way off base, my money would be on someone you know or someone that knew your 15s were in there in the first place. If it was a random theft they would have used force to get into your car.

Sorry about your loss. That sucks beyond words.

Tony
