I read that when I got my packet.. :/

I think that leaves the glovebox latch and the drink holder cover under warranty

I'm surprised that the Gold Plan doesn't include some kind of protection for the Bose and Navi.

I was offered an extended warranty plan for $1600 when I bought my Max. I declined to accept it, but I'm wondering what level of coverage I would be getting for $1600? I think I recall the sales manager mentioning 7/75000. I thought I should be getting more for $1600 so I refused it.

That sounds like fun Too bad it's not the solution usually accepted at most places

oh? 1600?

yeah.. I got offered that too for $1400. I told the finance manager that I wasnt paying his rent this month. I said I will only buy the car with a warranty. He wouldn't come down or haggle.

Finally I said, "I'm walking out the door and I will explain to the sales manager that you killed the deal trying to screw me and put $600 in your own pocket"

His face turned very red. He was so angry.

Then I said, "I know the warranty is $800, I know people who have gotten it for this much. I'll give you $900. Take the $100 you did nothing to earn or get nothing and no sale. 3 other dealers loaded with these cars, I could care less."

He did some sort of short breathing exercise, turned a normal color again and accepted.

Dang, I wish I knew the actual cost of an extended warranty when I bought my car. I'm still glad that I didn't fork over the $1600 that the sales manager wanted. Good move on your part (the part about the sales manager changing colors really made me crack up)!

I got 7/75k for $800 more. Piece of mind that should the engine or tranny fail i don't have to shell 2-3x that amount when the time comes (if it ever).

Yep, dealers really jack up the price on the extended warranty a lot. When i came back to the same dealership (different finance guy) he offered the same warranty to my mother's 2k2SE for $1300. I told him i got it for $800 - he wouldn't believe me but proceeded to check my info on his computer.

He saw i was telling the truth and gave my mother the same price for the warranty.

To those who got it and are having second thoughts, remember that you can always return the warranty and get a refund as long as your regular warranty hasn't run out yet.

I paid $1200 for my extended warranty (7yr/100,000 mile). Its worth the piece of mind for me. I am notorious for having transmission problesm. My tranny went out on 2 previous vehicles at about 50K miles. Figured I would be safe this time. The warranty also covers a rental car while they are fixing your car. If they end up having your car for a week, that can amount to about $500 itself. Plus, it would probably make them work a little faster if they know they are paying for that rental car each day.

Why buy at the dealer ?? I canceled mine once I found out how inexpensive the warranty can be bought for on the net. Got 100,000 mile/7 year bumper to bumper for $1050. "warreantybynet", "warrantygold" etc, etc. Same ones the dealer sells and doubles the price on. Most times you have 60 days to get all your money back -- prorated after that.

Call the people's # listed on the warranty to cancel. I got full refund -$25. In my case it was Nissan. The dealer cheated me by starting my warranty from the day the car was first sold 2+ YEARS AGO. My NEW 5 year/75,000mile warranty for $1200 was really a 3- year warranty with 40,000 miles to go. JERKS. Any extended warranty you buy doesn't start till the Manufactures warranty ends !!! In my case the car was used/34,500 miles. Usual extended warranty starts in 30 days/1000 miles (actually at 36,000). NO problem with cars UNDER the manufactures still. Makes sense. LOOK on the web... Plenty of them, and good one's.
