mods to the 02

Aight peeps, I'm now a new memeber of the glorious maxima owner's club. So far all i did to my 02 was put 18 x 8.5 ACE MODAS on 245/40 P zeros and clear bumper lenses and hyper-white bulbs. Engine and suspension work is next. If anybody's got a list of the best name-brand product for each individual modification that'd help me out. I wanna make sure everything that I add is completely compatible and utilized efficiently, especially the powertrain mod chip. I'm a chem-engineer for Castrol, so anyone with any engine questions holla.

There have been a lot of threads about the intakes for the 02 lately so search for them. Strut towers are a easy yet effective mod too

ya there has been a lot of discussion lately, right now for the 2002 the best intake available is prolly the frankencar intake. www.frankencar.com 10hp gain on a dyno and sounds great.

The only way to know for sure that your mods are working or working proficiently together is to get your car dynoed and tuned ( if applicable)

I am looking to get the exact same size wheels, have you had any issues and how did it feel after?

Damn, 245's... on 18x8.5?... those are some serious treadz! Do you have less wheelspin now?

I'm guessing: wider tread = better traction = little/no wheelspin = faster launches = WRXs for breakfast

What I'd like to try is something in the range of 235-245s on 15-16" superlight alloys. I'd like to see if this setup would yield quicker lanches from a dead stop. Imagine, a smaller-diameter wheel, with a wide tread. That should get some serious ponies on the ground at WOT. Any input on this?

My friend's S2000 has the monster Potenzas (me thnx) and you can't really get the wheels to spin, unless the VTEC is engaged & you drop the clutch into 1st & also when shifting 1-2nd (vtec engaged). Even then, the spin is minimal. My freakin max is all over the map with the spinning (not to mention the torque-steer). Also, the WRXs have very little wheelspin (although I haven't witnessed this) cause of AWD. Here's my freakin opinion: One of the reasons that the S2000 & WRX can have constant sub 6sec 0-60 runs is cause of their excellent traction. I'll have to wait until Santa drops me a set of 15's with some wide a$$ treads.

I have less wheelspin, cause the Pirellis got great grip and traction, and they're wide as hell. But overcomin torque-steer is a different story. Maybe if Nissan didn't feel the need to make unequal-length front axles, that would help. Hey, why not a rear-wheel drive max too? I'd be the first to make the trade-in. But I still love my baby.
