Stillen Update: 2002 Headers and front lip

I called my stillen rep today which I have done atleast once a month since I bought my car. He told me that the headers are currently being made and that they should be available with in 30 days! He said the same goes for the 2002 front lip. This is great news, I hope it holds true.

The header/ down pipe estimated price is $600-700

If you believe the "30 days" statement, then you will probably believe me when I say I built an engine that runs on water Sorry, but this is Stillen's famous line for something that most likely hasn't even been run thru the CAD yet. I still can't figure out why Stillen decided to do a header setup this go around. I guess they saw the money Comptech is making on the TL/CL-S/TL-S headers.

I know what your saying but heres a twist. I have been told for months to call back in 30 days to see whats up. Last month I called and my rep said they just had a meeting with the "new" R&D team and the headers are going to start being designed soon, then he told me to try back in 30 days. So today was about 30 days later and he said the headers are now being made and should be ready in about 30 days. So I guess we will have to wait and see but to me there seems to be some progress being made

They should fit 95-02, the only diffence might be o2 sensor holes which can be modified.

Thanks for the info. Those Integral's are something that I never would have pictured on a Max. I'm sure you've heard thousands of times how awesome they make the car look.

I've spent about 10 grand with him in the last few years so he hooks me up pretty good compared to the prices I hear other people quoted.

Any estimation on HP gains from the header?

Is it the header + Y pipe?

It's going to be the header and Y-Pipe. I would expect to see about 20 FWHP in a 02 max.

i kind of hope it would be more than that. if the frankentake gives you 10 hp and a y-pipe alone on other 5th gens gives you like 15 i'd hope that a y-pipe AND headers combo for $700 would give you more than that. when i talked to umm Terry, i think his name was, he kept telling me that i'd be very VERY impressed with the headers. he really made me think it would be something amazing. i know thats his job to make me think that but it felt like he was being honest and not just trying to be a salesman. hopefully we'll see more than 20 FWHP.

He told me it is currently being made and should be available in 30 days. Hopefully it comes out in time for this summer.

BTW 20 FWHP would be great to have, I will dyno my car with the headers.

Any idea on any of the specs? What is it going to made out of...diamter...straight bolt on (no need to custom make o2 sensor plugs...will it work for cali and fed spec...

Sorry for the questions...but anything that makes us go faster I am all for.

It would be nice to see a 40-50fwhp gain with an intake (FC) and this new header setup. Even with the stock cat back...I would pay 700 for it.

I highly doubt that stillen would make the header/y pipe combo for $700... the comptech headers for the v6 accord are pushing $1,200 so i would guesstimate that the price would be def. higher than $1,000 and knowing stillen's reputation of inflating prices (ej: clear lenses $100) prolly end up around $1,500.

Ah since when has the 5th gens so special? 40-50hp at the wheels?? Think again and cut that 40 figure in half.

Even if greg becomes a stillen dealer, he cant lower the prices below what stillen says is the lowest possible price he can sell it for.

Probably right.

Here is some of my fuzzy math that led me to 40-50.

FC Intake: 10HP Proven
"Y" Pipe: 20-30HP (based off of other Y pipes out there and some improvements for a 2k2 model?? Optimistic yes…reality, probably not.)
Header: 5-10HP just a guess. I remember seeing a site where someone tested an aftermarket header on a max and only got 1 or 2 HP. I can’t imagine Stillen would expect people to pay that much for 1 or 2 more HP...wait a minute, maybe I can imagine that , but I am hoping it will produce more.

Anyways...it is just good to have some options. Hopefully we will have more.

One member here picked up about 30 FWHP with just a intake, RT cat and a HKS muffler . So I have to diagree with you, 40 FWHP with just bolt on's looks very possible. Can you say 300 NA HP?

I read that thread. I would like to see some more dynos first. It wasn't as scrutinized as I would have thought.

this is greg's business. buying in bulk and passing the savings on to us. unfortunately stillen hates custommaxima and refuses to sell to him. i dont know the legalities for sure but i disagree with "he cant lower the prices below what stillen says is the lowest possible price he can sell it for" because greg told me once that "i had a truck load of stillen body kits on its way to my house and someone at stillen got word that they were heading to me and called the truck and told the driver to turn around. they think i sell their stuff for too cheap" from that i gathered that he COULD sell it for any price he wanted if he could just actually get the merchandise to sell.

Ugggh. That's the SAME thing.

Stillen FORCES it's dealers to sell at MSRP and if a dealer tries to sell it cheaper, Stillen doesn't sell them parts anymore. Therefore, Greg can't sell at whatever price he wants unless he wants to sell at MSRP or NOT sell anything.

the y=pipe/headers combo will prolly only give 20hp tops because the 2k2's have a efficient y-pipe already and the older maxes didn't

no need to get an attitude. you said greg CANT lower the price. so i figured you meant legally because he CAN in fact lower the price but he just needs to get the merchandise first. its not impossible for him to get it. if it was, he wouldnt have had that truck on his way to his house in the story i told you.
