Nope. A muffler and intake should not affect your O2 sensors. I'd suspect your problem lies elsewhere.

I am not doubting you or anything, but who did your intake install. There are a number of sensors that could be disconnected or have a loose connection. My suggestion before taking it to the dealer is to check the sensors directly related to the install, namely temp, MAF, etc. BTW, I don't think you will have a problem with the dealer taking a look at it. You just might have to take some S#$T!

the intake install was done at the All-Nissan by WizzaMax {Tracy} and Chinkzilla {Dennis}, w/ a lil bit of input from Bernie2000se {Bernie}...i just dont understand how everything was coo until now, and then just all of a sudden decides to tell me sumthing is wrong...ive checked all the connections and they seem to be correct...

How is the car idling and running, OK? Even after the check light comes on?

Gas cap on tight?

Is there any place you could go to that can pull the trouble codes besides the dealer? At least you'd find out what was tripping the light without alerting the dealer to your mods.

Well my 2k2 was the same way.
I drove it around for a while after reseting the ecu and the engine light came on again.
I took it to the dealer and the first bank o2 sensor was burnt out.
It must have been the recent snow and rain and all that other crazy weather we just had in texas.
They replaced it in like 2 hours for me.
Good luck.

I don't know about the 2K2, but I took my 2K in with intake FSTB and they did warranty work on my car no problem, including some TSB's for rotors, ecu reset, etc. They just made a note of the aftermarket parts in the file.

You shoulnd't do any damage, you just wouldn't know it if there really was something wrong with your car, because that is the purpose of the o2 sensor, it makes you aware if your engine is not 'breathing properly' by (snicker) turning your check engine light on. If it is already on, you wouldn't know there was a real problem until you got your o2 sensor fixed. Under warranty a dealer should replace o2 sensor for free, but might give you a lil' shizznit for your mods. Any smart garage mechanic could tell you for sure if that is your problem without charging you, hell take it in for an oil change to a real mechanic and say, 'by the way...'

If I'm not mistaken, o2 sensor is used by ECU to detrmine how reach is the air/fuel mixture is. ECU actually slightly changes this ratio all the time causing alternative part of o2 sensor output signal and then measures it. It essentually makes o2 sensor important part of "electronic carburetor" on injector cars. When my o2 sensor went bad recently (I'm stock, except FSTB, brake pads and tires) - my milege decreased on about 30%. It was also "second bank sensor", I pulled codes myself - any OBD scan tool can do that. We're building one ourselves so it was great opportunity for some field-test .

Mike.
