Biggest Crap you have heard????

I just thought it's interesting to heard all the horror, (even funny) stories of dealer BS.

I was navive when I purchase my Max, and can't even see the BS even when it was hanging on the dealer's *****....

So...all owners out there...what's the wildest BS u have heard?

Notes: Ever notice how sales say they have 2 mothers and 5 kids to feed and make u feel sorry for them??

The service department telling me that the 2k auto max can be reprogrammed so that all the cylinders fire up so it can perform as fast as a 5 speed.

One word. Absolutely. You might as well just tell them to leave it off and give them an extra $500 for the car...

A couple weeks ago as I was test driving a new 2k2 Maxima 6 speed with a sales man, and we were talking about the difference between my 2k and the 2k2, he goes "well you know, this has 255hp, which is way more than your 2000 maxima, youve only got 200" I didnt know what to say to him after he said that.

me: So, you got any manual 2002 Maximas in?
dealer: Yeah, we have 5 speed 2002 Maxs in. One's right there.
me: Uhh...they're 6 speed, right?
dealer (as we walk to the new car): Nope, we just got them in the other day.
me (looking into the driver window): Well, I guess it's 5 speed if you use 6th gear as an extra reverse gear.
dealer (looking into window with me): Huh?

sales rep: "you know, i still have an A/E maxima, its a manual!"
me: "really, how much is it going for?"
sales rep: "i dont know, but it has 255hp just like the new 2002's"

whenever i go to the dealer, i always end up talking to some goof that says, "i dont really know, i'm new here, you probably know more than i do" (thats for sure )

Me: I don't know...I would rather have a 5-speed.
Dealer: Oh no...these cars (Maximas) are way too squirley for a manual transmission.

Me: Hey...don't the new 2002s have HIDs?
Dealer: No.

Me: I had over $6,000 worth of stereo equipment in my last vehicle...I doubt the Bose system will impress me.
Dealer: Well, you haven't heard the Boses in the Maximas yet. They can't be beat.

Me: There's two small spots on each front door where the paint has been scraped off. I don't want to buy a brand new car with two blemishes on it before I even drive it off the lot.
Dealer: Oh...we're just gonna throw those in for free.

Me: I'm here to fill out my dealer questionaire and get a free tank of gas.
Dealer: Just leave it here and we'll fill it out for you.

Tony

My favorite dealership BS???

When I knew EXACTLY which car I wanted, but not what color. I called a few dealers to find out who had stock.

ME: Hi, How many 2002 GLE's do you have on the lot?

Stevens Creek Nissan: Oh, we've got 30! Come see me, I'm so and so...

Next morning after a 45 minute drive,

ME: Hi so and so, I talked to you yesteday evening. I came to buy a 2002 GLE.

So and so: Oh, let's see... I think we have, yes, come with me. (Two blocks later in a back corner of the lot) Oh, here it is! (One car)

ME: No, GLE and GXE are not the same car. No, I don't want an Altima. No, a 2001 is not what I wanted. No, they AREN'T exactly alike.

ME (now in the middle of the showroom): YOU DON'T HAVE TO LIE TO SELL CARS! (walks off lot)

Sheesh!

Another One...

After two weeks of sticking to my guns on what I wanted, the dealer found exactly what I wanted. Problem was it was in Orlando. They didn't want to get it for me after settling on a price, so they call me to say the car was sold. Me never trusting the dealer used my SprintPCS to search for the Orlando Nissan dealer. I ask about the car and was told "It's up on our display rack right now"!!! Next day, I confront the dealer about their deception, and they sell me a LOADED 5spd AE for $600 more than the SE I originally wanted! I loved the look on the manager's face once he knew he'd been caught in his lie.

So I take the car in for service a couple of months ago and this is what the service guy says to me while looking at the car and filling out my info on the computer.

Service Guy: What year is that 98' or 99'!!!
Me: Your kidding right
Service Guy: No why
Me: Its a 2000
Service Guy: But its a 5spd
Me: ok
Service Guy: The 00's didn't have a 5spd option
Me: Can I speak to the Manager!!!

Turns out the service dept of the dealership here had never seen a 5spd 00', and the service guy was new.

I took my SE to the dealer less than two weeks after picking it up because the passenger side door wouldnt close properly and after waiting 4.5 hours the "servive" manager told me there was nothing wrong and that the door could not be adjusted. I took it to another dealer like 3 weeks after that and they fixed the problem for me...Stop being lasy and do your damn job!!! I will never pay that dealer another visit.

So can I go to ANY dealer for service?

Or do I have to go back to the same guys I got the car?
But don't seem to change much, cause from what I heard so far, these service guys are TLC..(Thick lame ***** (can i say this in the forum?))

Just read Consumer Reports, (I trust thes guys) and Nissan got the 2nd LOWEST rating in service (60% satifactory) Mitsubishi is the worst. Then there's 15 other car manufacturers that's better, with Saturn being the best(90% i think)

Please god tell me that's not true!!!

Me: I wanna see the new Sentra Spec-V.
Dealer: It's the fastest Nissan car sold in America!
Me: Really!?!
Dealer: It'll blow the doors off your Maxima!
Me: Are you sure?
Dealer: It does 0-60 in less than 7 seconds!!!
Me: If it's so fast, then why don't you drive it and race me in my SLOW Maxima?
Dealer: Uhhh... We can't do that sir.
Me: Go research the Maximas that you are supposed to be able to sell!

Not Nissan, but still funny...
(Ford Dealer)
Me: How fast do the new Mustang GT's run in the 1/4 mile?
Dealer: It's hard for them to clock them, but I'm sure that it will pull you MUCH harder than that Maxima.
Me: (WTF?) Um... I have videos from the drag strip of me crushing GT's - stock and modified!
Dealer: Huh?

Instead of a Nissan dealer, I heard these from a Tirerack recommended installer in the Boston area when I asked about a quote for mounting and balancing four 235/45-17 tires on aftermarket rims:

"I can't quote it because I don't know how long it will take to mount those low-profile tires. It'll be $50/hr, could take an hour for each tire."

"I've never heard of someone putting that size on a Maxima. Don't you have 215's?" Me: No, I have 225/50-17 stock. "Oh, are you sure those will fit?" Me: Yes, I checked the offset and backspacing and they'll fit easily. "Well, they'll put more stress on your wheel bearings which could make them fail."

"Why do you want to go wider? 225/50-17 is a much more common size than 235/45-17. You'll have a lot more choices for a tire in 225/50-17. Take it from me, I know what the tire manufacturers make." (I told him there were like 3 or 4 choices in 225/50-17.)

"You won't find a tire with much better performance than the Bridgestone Potenza RE92. It's a very high performance tire. That's why it comes on the Subaru WRX."

Needless to say, I didn't have my tires drop-shipped to any of the recommended Tirerack idiots. I took my rims and tires to NTB who mounted and balanced them for $108 in one hour.

Paranoid......

I ordered my car 4 weeks ago, at that time, they say it's gonna be 3-6 weeks.
Called Monday, since they NEVER gave me a call, and ask about the current situation.
Dealer: It's shipping!, Anything this week, I'm expecting it anyday now.
Me: ok...

Today, Friday.........not a word...

I know I'm paranoid, but is there any reason a dealer would delay your car? (All I can think of is him selling it to another one who will only buy if it's in the lot..)

Help!!
