Y-Pipe & CA/NLEV

So I found out the hard way today I have a CA emissions car. Hmmmm...I don't live in CA!!!

So the muffler shop guy and I stood there and scratched our collective heads while we tried to figure out why my stupid brand-new Y-Pipe wouldn't fit. After re-checking the Cattman website I now know my car is CA/NLEV. Needless to say the Fed spec won't fit. DOH!!!

Anyway...anyone out there make the opposite mistake? Anyone want to trade a CA/NLEV Y-Pipe for a Fed spec?

I know...silly question...I had to ask. Stupid me!!

I could be wrong about this, but I believe ALL 2001 and later Maximas are based on CA/NLEV emissions standards.

I'll call Cattman tomorrow and see what they can do for me. Hopefully, I can just exchange it and lose a little for shipping and possibly a re-stocking fee or something.

yup that's right

Only the 2000's have a fed spec model. After that they are all cali-spec. I would say we 2000 Fed spec 5 speed owners "technically" have the fastest 5 speed maximas. There can't be too many of them out there either...still, i'd trade it for a new 6 speed in a heartbeat.
