HELP!! Major Dillema
HELP!! Major Dillema
Argh,
I just spoke with my carsdirect.com agent, she says there are no 2k2 maximas with HLSD on the lots now. I have to take delivery before april 1st in order to get special financing and the $1000 dollar rebate. There is a Grey Lustre 2k2 6 speed sitting on the lot with my name on it right now, should I wait and forego the $1000 and lower apr or should I get the HLSD? I do a lot of track (road race events) so LSD is really desirable, but is it worth the wait and extra cash!?
what would you do? Any chance I could order the HLSD part off a dealer and have my shop install it? anyone know how much this would cost?
*sigh* I'm stumped, and I have less than a day to decide...

It depends a lot on what you plan on doing with your car. If you are keeping if for more than 3yrs., don't care about warranty on your trans., and want the ultimate traction/racing edge, get the Quaiffe. Cattman sells it for around $1400 and it will be $500+ to get it installed, so figure your approximately spending $1000 down the road for a superior differential not even including the lower APR.
I say get the car NOW!

I think that your dealer is shi**ing you, and "putting your name on your car" is the evidence. Your 1000 rebate may not be worth jack if you're overpaying for that car they have in stock. What are they selling it to you for? I'd say if you're getting a real good deal ($1000 under invoice) for that non-LSD car, take it. If not, then wait for LSD car when it comes in, there'll be another "special" on APR.
Why are you so locked in to carsdirect.com? They have arrangements with a limited number of dealers, and their deals aren't all that good.
Go to dealernet.com and do a search for the exact MSRP you are looking for wihtin a 200 mile radius of your home. ( The MSRP is like a model number. You can tell exactly how a car is configured using it. You can also use it to configure exactly the car you want. For instance, a $30,800 MSRP is an SE with HLSD loaded with all factory options except Nav.)
After you find a dealer that has your car, send him an e-mail and tell him what you are looking for. Don't let him know you know he has one. Do all your dealing via e-mail until it comes time to sign. Don't pay more than $300 UNDER invoice PLUS the $1000 rebate. ($1300 under invoice total). Make your first offer at $1600 under invoice and leave the dealer a little room to add the BS documentation charges.
If you don't find the car you are looking for through dealernet.com, then just start sending e-mails to a bunch of dealers telling them what you want. Some of them may not post to dealernet or they may not put detailed listing s on including the MSRP
A deal like this can absolutely be made, now, this month. I know, I just did it. ($30,800 MSRP [$28,067 invoice] for $26,661 including all fees, two weeks ago, and the dealer had to get it from another dealer. I figure that cost me $150)Go get em!
