I wanna get my car lowered, plz help guys!

Hey whats up people, long time no posting. Been really busy lately *wow I miss the good ol' days of being a post ******

Anyhoo I want to get my car lowered. I have my stock 17" rims which are scratched but I'm going to get them dipped and polished this summer. In addition to getting 2new tires since myne are like slicks, seriously no tread left at all!

So I wanna buy some springs, Im really short on money but I want to do this. Could you guys point me int he right direction. Nothing fancy just want to drop it. I dont wanna drop it too much though, like i go to Maine sometimes and I don't want it to be too low. Also no coilovers since well funds VERY limited. Also details on how much and who will install them! thanks in adv....

No budget? Want H&R ride like quality springs? Check out Maxspeed springs. The 3rd round of groupdeal should still be up ($85+s/h).

As for struts, you can get Tokico's, KYB's or Koni's... a lot of people prefer the KYB AGX because it's adjustable.

You could try just getting springs for now and leaving the stock struts because it is the springs that actually lower the car. However, you will have to replace your struts eventually, preferably after 10k miles. So if you just want to lower it for now, and will have more money later, than that is what I suggest.

Ground Control uses Eibach springs.

Check out Progress Springs. They drop 1.7 in the front and 1.5 in the rear, which results in a real nice even drop all around. Handling is awesome too. $150 shipped from www.pmpdesigns.com They are listed for 4th gens but fit perfectly for 5th gens.

If your thinking about the Maxspeed springs let me know. I got a set for my 2002 but I'm having second thoughts right now about lowering. I'll sell them to you for $85 plus shipping.

If you are short on cash, get the MatriX springs. They are not bad..many people say they are firm and still have a promising ride, but its brand is cheap and new.

If you are willing to shell more, but still prefer value, you can try to find some deal on H&R and Tokico. It is not the best, but a lot better than stock.

You should install them yourselves because you are young and energetic.

I can totally see you driving a friend (girl) to the beach and your mom won't get you in trouble!!!

why would he have to replace his shocks/struts after 10K miles?

check your email. How much do they lower your car by, and how does the ride feel like? How much do the shops charge to change the springs?

1.7 and 1.4 (F/R), Rides like H&R. Swapping it out goes in the range of $95-$150 + tax.

uhm...dont look that I'm fanatic how does H&R ride like? With this kind of a drop, do I need to re-do an alignment? How about camber correction kit?

damn altogether the lowering can be down for under 200 dolla!!

H&R would be slightly stiffer than regular SE springs. Not harsh just a bit stiffer. If you won't know any better you'd think you're riding on stock SE suspension.

Alignment on the fronts only if needed. No camber correction kits necessary.

I also agree with the Maxspeed recommendation. I put them on my car and they honestly don't feel that much different than stock. The handling was vastly improved, however.

It lowered my car 1-1/8 inch in front and 5/8 inch in the back. Doesn't sound like much, but it looks really nice & isn't so low that the car looks like a lowrider.

I'd say installation is more likely in the $150+ range. A lot of people from the last group deal kept their stock struts as did I. I would guess and hope that they will last longer than a meesly 10K miles. If you can afford new struts now, I'd say go for it b/c the labor to change out your springs will be the same whether you just change the springs or do both springs & struts.

I have pics of my car lowered on my homepage.
