Whats funny to me is that most GLE/GXE owners seem to ad or want everything thats on our SE's. Including spoilers, stiffer suspension,White faced Gauges, fogs(gxe)etc! So that tells you what they want at heart "SE"!

Back in the day when Infiniti did not exist, I could understand the need for a GLE. But now, why would you get a Maxima GLE and not opt for an Infiniti I30/35 instead? They're like non-identical twins fighting for the most attention.

I think you're missing the point. I drove my 3rd gen SE for 10 years and loved it. But my tastes eventually changed and I wanted the bells and whistles than came with a GLE. It's never been a matter of which is better, it's simply personal preference. That's why they make different models in the first place. This business of "my car is better than yours" is a bit silly.

Im not missing the point. And I do agree why they make different FLAVORS of the MAX.

I was just rebutting your earlier statement of ....DOES YOURS HAVE THIS...THIS ....THIS....THIS....

SO...this business of "my car is better than yours......" well.....you can read who posted first.

AND......This comment..
"""GLE rules man you have an SE because could not aford a GLE
GLE just add a spoiler and a wind deflector and all options rims are better too """

WTF??? My SE cost just as much, AND it will probably have a better resale, because of the 6sp....

I think we differ in that there are other things in life I believe are a higher priority than a 6 speed. Things like sex, a good steak, HDTV or excellent health. I see now why your signature on the other forum is this giant picture of your 6 speed, as we discussed before, and you even have it in your ID here. You love it so. Don't you see a problem here?

I can't really put my finger on it, but an obsession with an inanimate object can cause difficulties. I can see your pulling the entire transmission out after you trade or sell in the car someday and putting it on display in a glass case in your living room. Now that's a problem.

Then most men have problems

Being passionate about something does not necessarily mean a problem.

Please understand that this is all rather tongue-in-cheek between Padsy and me.

It's like the story of the mental inpatient who was obsessed with her pet carrot. She walked around everywhere with it, saying "nice carrot, good carrot". One day it slipped out of her hands and rolled down a flight of stairs. She panicked, "Oh my god, my carrot, my poor pet carrot is dead." They had to call over a doctor to calm her down and give the carrot a thorough examination. "Miss", the doctor said, "I have some good news and bad news for you. Your pet carrot will live, .......... but it will be a vegetable the rest of its life."

Do you have charcoal or blonde leather? Cause if you have charcoal, wood grain trim looks lame... they should have put black-wood trim in there a-la the Type-S... anyways... the SE has everything the GLE has and fully-loaded vs. fully loaded results in the SE being more expensive because of the upgraded suspension and tires...

I have blonde leather. And, at least for the 2000, I agree that an SE loaded with all the items that came standard on the GLE, including the five items I mentioned, would be more expensive. But it still doesn't make one better than the other. It's just personal preference.

Now I get it. You consider your own stick and your stick shift as one. Someone should lock this thread now before it gets out of "hand."

And To Put This Thread to Bed, Literally...

When GLE owners picked up their cars, we each had a sexy blonde cheerleader all buckled up in the backseat as a special gift from Nissan.

Nissan's reasoning for this no-cost option: The SE owners have a spoiler, and now GLE owners do too.

Is there much difference between the SE's V rated tires and the GLE's H rated tires in terms of Snow and wet weather handling?

The spoilers are ugly on maxima's, they ruin the flow of the car. that and cost are why i got the gxe over the se. i've heard rumors that the suspension differences aren't very big, and while the SE coefficient of drag is something like .1 lower than a GXE, the se also weighs more from the same engine, so the GXE will be faster in a straight line until getting to very very high speeds. So there!

They are basically the same car with the exception of trim related items (chrome, leather, guages ect.) but the wheels are the same size in width and diameter the tires are 1 size smaller 215/55/17 and of course the GLE is auto only but I LOVE the car (it'll be better once Don get me a VB mod that I am waiting for and the warpspeed pipe) and the best part is that my wife likes it too! Nice for her FUN for me...my cake and eating it to who ha!

wow, this has been quite a posting to read! You can sum up the differences like this:

GLE= point and go
SE = Point and Show

Although they are basically the same car save tuning and add ons, I just don't take a GLE as serious as an SE. I mean, an SE has attitude where a GLE has, well, it has, well what does it have???

If the only Max was a GLE Max, I'd be driving something else, like my Lexus LS 400!

Even after adding the RSB I've yet to be as enthusiastic about the handling of my GLE as I was with either of my previous two SE's.

The RSB was a huge improvement, but the car is not as solid as I would hope in high speed, long turns (tends to oversteer).

I'll be adding an FSTB, and if someone swaps out their OEM springs from a 2002 SE and sells 'em to me I'd add those too.

The front sway bar may be changeable and would complete the transition. I personally don't like the spoiler and do like the luxo interior of the GLE.

Instead of going over the VS. thing... why not we have emblems made to say.

GLE Type-S

or perhaps

SE Type-G

That way both cars have *both* G and S.

i know. i'm crazy

yup...that is why I had to pick GLE.....b/c the SE that I want with the same options costed me 2000 more....

plus I think the suspension stiffness can be corrected with a RSB....IMO

Yes, 2000-2001, Most Maxima commercials, with the exception of the Maxima SE chasing the sun, were all GLE models, including the one where the Maxima drifts in the dessert

I would have been happy with a GXE, even the stripper 5speed model. All these comments about features, get over it

Ditto. I was actually looking for the GXE when i got around to buying the Max... but it was nowhere to be found.

In any case, it's still a Maxima. That's all that matters really
