suspension....the SE's are stiffer allowing better performence through turns and stuff. also...nicer cluster, spolier, nicer looking wheels.

I bought the SE cause of the manual tranny. I also was not THAT crazy about leather. (Hey it's my A$$ you know!)

All the stuff they said plus the SE doesn't have chrome trim around the grill or on the doorhandles

Yeah, a fully loaded GLE is still cheaper than a fully loaded SE! Another difference: the GLE is better looking than the SE.

Whoa, baby, quite a comment considering the makeup of this group seems to be mostly SE owners!

I bought the GLE based on price comparison alone. I probably would have thought differently a few years back.

The GLE is not better looking than any SE. The SE is a sporty looking car, while the GLE looks like an older-man's car, and that's who you usually see driving them

GLE vs. SE

And if your boyfriend cannot drive a 6 speed, there's always the GLE.

in the 2k2, isnt the only difference a spoiler and wheels?

the se having a spoiler and "sportier" wheels,
youd think it looks better?

Typical SE v GLE differences;
SE has spoiler, body color door handles and grille, foglights, white face gages (Blacked out tail in the 02, like the 01s?? I wonder)

Plus 1 exclusive to the SE only now in 2K2: 6 speed manual tranny.

The GLE gets a lot of optional stuff standard, like Bose, digital climate control etc.

And, I'm pretty sure that when Nissan designed the Maxima, they were thinking about the SE all along. They luxofied the SE to make a GLE, and then stripped the SE to make the GXE.

The auto climate control comes automatically with leather. It really depends on the look and feel you are going for. I just turned 30 but still like the sportiness of the SE. I see too many grandpa's in the GLE.

As per NISSAN, the Se has a different suspension than the GLE. As for you GLE lovers...Im sure you all LOVE your 215's....I cant even get my 225's to hook up ! Then again, if you're in a GLE driving to the retirement home, you dont want to wake up the BLUE-HAIRS racing your car .. All in fun guys !

Yo, Kloogy!

Your sig shows a Glacier Pearl White SE.

Bet you got a discount for selecting Glacier Pearl White, huh

GLE owners dress in Super Black. It's an image thing.

I read a thread here stating that male SE owners like to kiss each other on the mouth! Some even take it further. (yuck)

I dunno if it's true though, let's ask some of the SE owners here...

For those that haven't noticed yet: IT'S BASICALLY THE SAME DAMN CAR! I WAS JOKIN. Different door handles, guages, woodtrim, wheels & rims... big f'n deal. Oh and a 6speed (for those dudes that like to keep their hands wrapped on something long & stiff) -jk

Hey, I'm not trying to offend anyone... I mean everything I typed above! - jking man just jking

Yeah, I was actually looking for some "smart" replies when I said the GLE looked nicer.

All in good fun, kloogy, all in good fun man!

Yeah you're right the suspension is also different. Oh, and the leather in the GLE smells & looks nicer... (here we go again LOL)

I always though the 02 difference is basically the same price but ones tuned for comfort and the other is tuned for sport. the GXE is an All Around car
Back in '97 My Grandmother Picked a '97 SE with white Faced Gauges..I dunno why she didn't get the GLE?
But Know for some year the SE has Colored Keyed Grill and the 3rd Gen had the Tinted Tail Lights and the '00 had the black trim.
Nissan really comfused me on the '95-96 models

Why?? The pattern was almost the same as other years except for 2 things;
1. The SE for any 4th gen did not have a blacked out tail
2. The 95-96 SEs had 15s instead of upgraded bigger rims and tires.

Other than that, all SEs have had foglights, white face gages, rear spoiler, etc.

Re: Re: Hey!

Yes but your GLE taillights are uglier IMHO, and your handling is not sporty - it's boaty! The gauges are also shared with the GXE's - so much for "best" model if it shares with the base one

Don't worry, my dad owns a GXE, it's a great car I like my SE more though <GRIN>

Have you ever seen a magazine ad or TV commercial for a Maxima that shows the GLE? I rest my case for the SE, but I still show respect for you GLE owners...because a Max is a Max no matter what!

Setting sun, a Maxima parked in the desert enjoying the view. The sun goes down. Maxima wants it back. The driver rows visiously thru the 5 speed<-----does a GLE have this, chasing the sun and bringing it back. Peace at last

As an older GLE driver you should know that this model comes with a special geriatric package that's not heavily advertized. It includes:

A false teeth holder
A special plug to recharge pacemakers
A CD radio that only plays Glenn Miller
Waterproof seats
15 extra sets of keys
Owners' Manual printed in 20 pt fonts
"Elder-Jack", a device to alert local paramedics when the driver's heart stops.

Now you know, so all these pointless "which is better" threads can end.

And so ends another exciting episode of "As the Stomach Turns"......

Hey, where's that violin music coming from??
