Hids On Max2000 Wiring Harness

Is the dealer jerking my chain about using 2002 HIDs on a 2000 Maxima.

4 dealers kept on telling me that the wiring on the 2000 Maxima cannot handle the voltages for HIDs from the 2002.

Is that true? I don't want a car fire...

He is full of crap. The HIDs use less wattage than a normal stock H4. HIDs use about 35watts. Normal H4 uses 55watts.

the dealer

is probably being stupid.. but there is a case to route the highs to their own relay. nobody has had trouble, but some of us have used relays just in case. The HIDs are not the problem (less power required as BDJ said), but if you are worried about high beams, just relay them and draw power from the battery (what I did). works like a charm. even those that didnt relay have had no problems so far.
