O2 sensor failure and test drive of G35
O2 sensor failure and test drive of G35
Well with only 13k Miles on my 2k SE the service engine light came on again - this time an O2 sensor is dying and on order. First a coil and now this. The engines may be great but maybe the components are junk!
I test drove the G35 and wasn't impressed. Because the max torque is at a high 4,800 rpm the 0-40 mph is slower than our cars. From 40 - 80 it is fast but you have to wait a little for the car to accelerate. Also the console controls are very small and hard to read/operate while driving.
If you like a "go cart" stiff ride you'll love the G35. Guys over 40 may think it is too stiff - I sure did. A lot of car for the money If you can overlook the small stuff.

Re: O2 sensor failure and test drive of G35
Perhaps it's slower because the G35 has better NVH quality and thus you can't feel the speed as much (as experienced by some 2k owners who drove the 2k2)?
I doubt the 400rpm difference would matter that much given the VQ seems to put max torque to the wheels waaayyy earlier waaaayyy earlier than that. (Then again, could it be the gearing?)

Well... i'm not a physics guru but a good coefficient of drag isn't actually be a good reason for not having that noise in this case.
Chances are it's probably some loose rubber somewhere that's allowing the wind to pass through the slits.
But yeah, that's absolutely annoying
I can't live driving on the highway with some whistling going on.

As for the noise, I didn't mention that both the salesman and myself noticed wind noise at the A pillars on the highway at 70 mph. This from a car with .26 CD - go figure?
