Trust me, you really don't want to have to replace your tires any sooner than you have to. They are not cheap!

pull up your e-brake and mash the throttle.

hehehaa

Yes neutral drops are counter productive. Pull up the e-brake and floor it. Burn out your overpriced tires and get new ones!! Happy smoking.

Okay, after reading this i know something's wrong with my car.

If i pull up the e-brake all the way up and floor it the car just moves forward (albeit slowly).

But if i just mash it w/o pulling the brakes up the wheels spin like crazy.

Weird.

Maybe not. Mine is a 5 spd so it's easier to brake the tires loose initially. My e-brake will not stop my car either from a stop, the car will still creep along while spinning. Front engine/front drive cars have this problem.

Re: Hmmmm

Hmm. Must've been the weather that day. It was pretty warm and the roads were quite sticky. I couldn't even break loose as easily.

I'll try it by brake torquing and holding the ebrakes. See how that works.

Re: Re: Hmmmm

this is for "maximillus"
if you want to burnout in an automatic here is what you do
-come to a complete stop
-pull e-brake all the way up
-press foot brake all the way down with your left foot
-rev the car to about 2500 or 3000( right before the car starts to move)
-then let off the brake with your left foot while slamming on the gas
This will be about the best burnout you can get with an automatic, without destroying your car. you will get pull forward a little bit.

Another trick to making the tires talk with an automatic is accelerate extremely hard out of a driveway, stop sign, anything that you are starting from a complete stop and then turning 90 degrees. Hammer the gas the cut the wheel sharply. But beware of torque steer, in other words don't do it in traffic.

WARNING-Accelerating extremly hard while in a turn will cause you transmission to fail over time. The spline gear that comes from the differential to the tranny will get worn around the connecting rod.
These shreds of metal will then fall into the tranny and eat up the rest of your gears.

My best piece of advise is to go and play Grand Turismo, you can burn out all you want there and cause no damage. Or if you have friend with a manual, go burnout in his car. The burnout that you will get from the automatic is not worth the damage that it will cause. I used to do them on my '95 max and it was a blast, but i ended up rebuilding the tranny twice!! I now have 2k2 6speed and it is much easier to do a burn out and less harmful to the car.

peace

I have a 2k2 Max, Auto , only 800 miles on it, If I am just stopped and floor it, my tires will completely smoke out, i've only done it a couple of times, i don't like attention, but it is pretty cool seeing an automatic spinning out like a stick.

go in reverse as fast as you then drop it into drive, hammer gas, and watch the smoke (of course that will really **** up your car)

Why would you want to pay $30K for a car and then do something like this that is obviously going to damage your tires, transmission and probably your engine?

I thought the thrill in these cars was the fact they are fast and fun to drive (in a foward motion).

I agree... don't you remember your vows? "To cherish thy vehicle, till 200,000 miles do you part? (Or you hit the lotto and get some insanely overpriced sports car...)"

You will totally f-up your car by trying to burn out on a FWD car... I wouldn't recommend it... at least not on a 5th gen.. its basically brand new... forward motion.. forward motion..

Pour bleach on the pavement. Make two puddles (one for each wheel), roll in them, and floor it. Smokin' (I have never done this, but I hear bleach works)

Well, being young i like burnouts as well, but not too many on my poor max. but, i find my car doesn't do them for crap. only way i get consistent spin is on wet roads. on my old car (94 grand prix), i did some videos for a class, and put liquid detergent (dawn or something similar) all over your tires and they light up like nobody's business. a lot better than bleach on your paint too. plus you leave PERMANENT marks on the road. trust me on this. anyway, i wonder if my max is underpower from the factory? 88 mph is my highest trap speed in quarter and no burnouts?

Ya. That works. That's how Steve (dmbmaxima88) did it on his 2k2. Search on the board for a video he posted a while back.

After owning 2 cars with More than 350 Hp , and both sticks.. I found burnouts to be my ENEMY , not something I wanted. Thats I was happy when BFG made Drag Radials.. even though I broke many motor mounts.... I am not looking to make my Maxx smoke it's tires... Even though I have done it 2 times..and boy can they smoke.. for an auto !

My AE auto has the ability to turn of the Traction control, make sure that is off if it is possible in yours. DON'T EVER NUETRAL DROP. ARE YOU GUYS INSANE? This is why I had to replace my trans after one year. I would shift when a light would turn green, and go to nuetral when i would slow down. Don't do it.

Yes of course you are turning off your tration control....As far as neutral drops.. I was making a light JOKE. Anyone who has half a brain know NOT to do that. Of course, if you are suffering from **** inversion, then read the post !

I've got frost leather with soon to be AE pedals if they ever come in. I definently like leather better than cloth, but I have to say these are the crappiest leather seats I have ever seen. They are hard as rock and my driver's seat is already cracking by my left hip.
