I was thinking about this and talked w/ Ant about it. If any of you guys do burnouts, do both of your tires spin? I'm sure it would w/ the factory wheels but if its a true posi, they both would still spin w/ bigger and wider rims. This is my case, both my tires spin when i do burn outs (You can see in my sig pic). I also have it on video camera where my front end slides left to right and right to left like it was posi (kinda like a rear wheel drive doing a breaker). I do realize both my tires always spinning at the same speed too. I've been told this isnt possible and not right on Maixmas. I have a 99 GXE and both tires spin during burnouts and the front end sways around...even w/ my 16x7 chrome rims on. Someone explain to me.

The best way to tell >>>>

if you have a LSD is to lift the front 2 wheels off the ground and spin one of the wheels one way, if the opposite wheel spins the same way then you do have a LSD if not then most likely you don't. But If you do live in Canada it is a possiblity that you do have and LSD, if this is the case and the 2 wheels spin opposite of each other then either your car does not have a LSD or the LSD is trashed.

I think all the Canada-bound Maximas had/have VLSD. If you look on a plate on your firewall, I'm pretty sure your tranny code will end in "V" if it's a VLSD and an "A" if it's a standard tranny...

Chances are you don't have posi. While visually you think both wheels are spinning at the same, most likely aren't. When doing a burnout, there is absolutely no weight transfer going on, so chances are both wheels will come close to spinning at the same rate. My car spins both tires very easily and even from a 1st gear roll-on. Sometimes 2nd is pretty bad and both tires spin. 3rd will only chirp on tire (usually the right). At the track, I've never had a "peg-leg" race. Both tires are always hunting for traction.

Try this. When it's wet out, go around a corner in 1st. As your are turning through the corner give it some gas. Chances are the inside will spin like crazy. Mine does it all the time.

both spin, but no posi

My '96 SE 5Speed is the same way.

When I do a burnout, both tires always spin.

If you jack the car up in the air and spin one tire, the other spins on the opposite direction, and after driving in lots of snow recently I'm sure the car doesn't have a limited slip diff.

I think it's just a "design feature" that makes both tires spin, even with an open differential.
