Gtech Accelerometer

I saw this on the Speed channel and went to the website. Anyone ever own one or heard any reputable good/bad remarks about it?

I have one. Works fine for tuning. 1/4 miles times won't include your reaction times. HP and 0-60 are right on the money.

Cool! So you push a button and then when it tells you GO, is it the same time from the button push to the GO every time? This would minimize your reaction time if it were the same every time.

It tells you when it's ready. Then, when you go it starts timing.

There's a new design, supposedly better than the "new" one they have on the site.

I saw it in one of the Auto magazines on the store rack in Kroger's. Looks very different from this one.

Yes. The LATEST G-Tech Pro has HP and TQ measurement, more accurate 1/4-mile and 0-60, a smart shift light, lateral G's, 60-0 braking distance, and some traction loss warning. I think it has some more stuff, but that's most of it.

The NEW model is ~$250 vs. $140 for the original.

BTW, I'll sell my ORIGINAL G-Tech Pro for $120 if anyones interested.

Hey Ice. How long have you had that? $120 sounds pretty high for a used piece of electronics.

Honestly? You'll be hard pressed to find a used GTECH for anything below $110... these are what i consider high-demand, low-supply items. (At least in the used market category)

Maybe. Not to me though.

I've had if for awhile(less than a year), but it doesn't do anything, but sit in a box. I've used a couple times, 3 or 4.

What HP does it measure? At the crank?

For HP it measures a "real world" and more accurate benchmark, at the wheels INCLUDING drag(wind resistance).

Dynos measure HP more accurately, but they don't account for wind resistance and the intakes' cooler "ram air" effect.

It's most useful when measuring before/after performance.

It sounds like I might need to look into buying one of these. I figured for only $140 it would be a rip-off, but you all seem to think it's not so bad. Thanks!

Hey now!

I'd at least wipe it off before I shipped it, maybe even wash it.
