What do you think of the stillen exhaust

I always see people talking about the HKS or other exhaust systems, but nobody seems to talk about the stillen exhaust(muffler). I just bought one myself and I am pretty satisfied with it. Anything wrong/complaints about it?

I'm considering buying the Stillen exhaust. What's the sound like and how much did you pay? Any difficulties with the install and does the quality of the muffler justify the price?

Roger that. Especially when you can get a Magnaflow Stainless Steel muffler installed for around $150.00!

Man, what some people will pay for a name . . .

Nope. I got rid of my Magnaflow when I added my Y-pipe. My exhaust was just TOO FREAKING LOUD for my taste with the Y-pipe, 2.5" piping, and a straight-through muffler. I ended up adding a Magnaflow resonator and I put my stock rear section back on. That turned out to be PERFECT for me!

Nope, different systems. The Stillen has a single 4" (I think) tip. The HKS has dual tips (not sure of the size, maybe 3.5").

How does this setup sound? Which exact muffler did you use for the resonator, the 4" round body? I think I might buy one and have midas put one on. It wont be mandrel bent, but they should be able to take care of those nasty crimps.

HKS has dual 3" tips. It looks great, but was too loud for my taste.

The setup sounds wonderful. It purrs at low rpm and growls at high rpm. It's never obnoxiously loud and it looks completely stock, so it never attracts the wrong kind of attention.

Yes, the 4" round body appears to be correct. I'd suggest you get the longest one Magnaflow makes that will fit.

How does the Stillen Muffler sound like with the Stillen Y-pipe, Stillen Intake, and Stillen B-pipe? To loud? To Ricey? Not loud enough?

Problem number one . . . Stillen doesn't make a B-pipe for the 5th Gen Maxima. If they did, I can sum up what your exhaust system would sound like in just one word:

EXPENSIVE!

The length of the 4" round is 20" according to the website. Do you think non mandrel bent piping will slow down flow very much? I was also thinking about going with just piping, with no resonator. Do you think it will be too loud.

Thanks for your help.

I put my powertech on.. nice rumble... I will now wait for a Y pipe to be made for a 2K2, and I will have a custom catback made.. Maybe I will wait for the Frankencar Exhaust to be made....I'm sure it will be good !

If you've made no changes to your exhaust system, I would start by simply removing your stock resonator. It's one of the least expensive mods you can make to your exhaust system and it's not too loud. Someone else did that recently and absolutely LOVED the results.

Don't be surprised if that rumble turns into a roar after you install your Y-pipe!

I don't think so. But you may be able to put it up on a jack long enough to hear what it sounds like.

I DEFINATLY LIKE IT. ITS A LITTLE LOUDER THAN THE STOCK EXCHAUST. IT HAS A LOW DEEP TONE UP TO 2,500
RPMS THEN AFTER IT HAS A NICE GROWL WITH THE INTAKE AT 3000=RPMS I BOUGHT IT OFF OF AN ORG MEMBER FOR $200 AND TOOK IT TO MIDAS COST $40 TO INSTALL. I DONT THINK ANY MUFFLER WOULD BE WORTH $500= THOUGH THAT IS PRETTY STEEP FOR MY WALLET

What a wimp! I mean, with the a contact mike mounted near your tailpipes connected to your Soundstream MC 300 AMP, you could REALLY blow those HUNDUH boys out of the water. And just think of how much you'd be able to impress your local gendarmes!
