I am getting it done this sat. not sure what color yet but thinking about platinum. I live in NC but my car in insured in SC cause its under my parents name and they live in SC so i'm save. SC has no inspections but the law is 27% so I am thinking of getting 25% even though NC las is 35% but I have SC tags what should I do??

 

I live in georgia but my tags are ohio. (Im a student in atlanta going to college.) the legal limit is 35% in both states but i just got my max done, and tinted it 22%. You are safe w/ 22 in my opinion, any darker than that and cops may **** with you. but with 22, thats only one darker than the legal limit and you should be fine. and you said you are getting platinum? what color is your car? mine is black so i got black tint of course. well good luck.

 

car is majestic blue. i'm not sure if i'll get that color i'll get yet though

I forgot the exact number for the back door and window but the front door windows have 35% on it. (back door is less, back window is 20+%)

It's metallic tint from Formula One Performance Tint's.

Look at my car and look at that Explorer behind it (which has no tint).

Also take note this was on a bright sunny day and my interior is frost (which would normally make tints look lighter)

 

Prepare yourself for the back-strip-dot-matrix-don't-tint-well phenomenon!!!

 

i got tint over the dot matrix on my back window and it looks fine. it all depends on if they do a good job.

 

I also live in Georgia (Valdosta) and about 2 years ago the city police decided they wanted to crack down on window tinting. They actually set up road blocks to check window tint! They had a machine that they would put on your window and it would tell them the tint%. I have several friends that got $40 tickets because they had 20% tint. I had 20% tint on the truck I had at the time and I went and got it stripped off because I didn't want to worry about being harrassed.

The moral of the story: Get the dark tint if you want it, but just realize that you will constantly have to worry about getting caught. The laws will only get stricter as time goes on. I would go with 35% and drive worry free.

 

got my tint done today got 22% black tint looks great but hate it takes 3 to5 days before you can roll down your windows and 30 days before it settles good
