Bose sub swap w/ 4th gen?

Bose sub swap w/ 4th gen?
I've heard that you can switch the Bose Sub with the 4th gen Bose sub and it supposedly sounds a lot better. Less rattle, or something. Anyone know about that? And BTW, I want to keep the Bose sub, so just adding a 12" sub in the trunk isn't an option. I tried a search, but found nothing. TIA.
