Fuel pump question... plz help!

Question all.... is it better to just upgrade the in-tank pump, or install an external in-line pump?
Please give me your opinions and reasons... or better yet, true life world tested facts! Thx!

Ummm...I think you would need to install a new one in-tank...especially if need extra flow (for larger injectors and boost).

If you put an inline, it might start to cavitate if it needs more fuel and the in-tank pump can't keep up.

But if you just need more pressure, then putting in a higher pressure inline pump with the same displacement should be okay.

If you're referring to your nitrous setup, go with the new fuel pump if you want to run any sort of real shot. 50-60, you won't need it, but above that, get the Walbro or something comparable. I would also recommend dyno-tuning it. Like Green_2 said, you won't get any more fuel if you don't upgrade the intake pump itself, and this is the simplest way.

The Walbro pump is what fellow Max owners use (in tank fuel pump).

Thanks guys! You guys confirmed what I was thinking. I ordered my Zex kit... I am planning on starting off with 75 shot, then working my way up to 100 shot. Has anyone posted instructions for a Walbro pump install on a 5th gen? Thanks again guys!
