Pacesetter STS question please anwser..
I have a pacesetter STS from custom maxima.com. I had it installed and it dosent feel right. It feels sticky when I shift and is not as smooth as I thought. Does anyone else have this problem or situation? If so how did you fix the problem. Any comments opinions and suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
Pacesetter STS
ThisMax2NV,
I just got done with the install myself, I think one reason that it feels tighter, less smooth, is at the pivot point you now have what look like Oilite bushings rather than some teflon-like flange faces.
Other reasons for a less effortless shift is the loss of mechanical advantage ( change of fulcrum point ) and the added length increases the tension on the retaining spring.
all and all you'll get use to the more concise pattern, I know it was a concern for my wife when she first drove it after the conversion, but now we both like the sportscar feel.

Pacesetter STS
ThisMax2NV,
I'm pretty sure the tighter notchier feel is common, and sure others will weigh in on this topic considering how many just installed this mod. I know it's not binding and there's no issue with the heat sheild as I've cut away all the intrusions.
As far as shift lever height, I can see nothing wrong with taking off an inch or more, but you can't go back. the STS is solid steel and like yourself, I too have a aftermarket **** which is secured in place with 3 set screws and not even using the top treads provided.
you might try grabbing the lever under your shift-****, when shifting, to feel if the reduced height will effect the shifting effort.
hope this helps
