OH MY OH MY OH MY OH MY!!!!!!! Just had a sprinted run(s) with 2 Porsches!!!

This is the most unbelievable thing I've ever done with the Max. I STILL don't believe what just happened.

Coming home from work, I see a Porsche 911 Turbo driving in the middle lane on the freeway. The look of the Porsche and the FAT "turbo" made me change lanes and follow it. We were going along with traffic, which was about 75 and suddenly I see a Porsche Boxter merge onto the freeway driving really fast through traffic. She ended up behind me, and I was behind the 911... all this time, I was wishing there was an open lane so all three of us can get to run.

All three of us drove along with traffic until we reached the carpool lane, which was open because it wasn't 3:00 yet. I move over to the lane first and the Boxster follows me. Once in the lane, I floor it (tranny dropped into 3rd) but all of a sudden the 911 signals and cuts in front of me with about 1/2 car length of space. I kept my foot on the pedal and to my surprise the 911 floors it also (I can smell the exhaust from his car)!!!!!!

The Boxster keeps up for a while (about 2 seconds), but the 911 and I just dust it. I thought to myself, with foot nailed to the floor, that he was going to leave me in the dust. Amazingly, I kept up with him!!! WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!!!!!!!! I took it through 3rd gear and part of 4th until he stepped on the brakes because we were approaching traffic. He started 1/2 length ahead of me (his bumper to my bumper) and he ended up only 1-1.5 car lengths ahead of me!!! That was UNBELIEVABLE!!! The Boxster ended up about 10 car lengths or so behind us.

Was the 911 trying? I would think so. No one would go past 130 for nothing. After traffic opened up again, we both took off and he pulled about 1/2 on me (about 5-7 second run). Is this a confirmation that he was trying? I hope so.

Man o man o man o man o man o man o man o man o man!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stats of a 911 turbo:

Code:
No. of Cylinders 6
Power (DIN) 415 hp
at rpm 6,000 rpm
Maximum torque 560 Nm
(Between 3,500-4,500 rpm)

Layout Four-wheel drive
Manual transmission 6-speed
Available with Tiptronic S Yes

                            Manual / Tiptronic S
Unladen weight
DIN 3,395 lb. / 3,494 lb.
According to EU Directive 3,560 lb. / 3,660 lb.

Top speed 189 mph / 185 mph
0-62 mph 4.2 s / 4.9 s
0-100 mph 9.2 s / 10.6 s
Which one did I go against? Most likely it was the Tiptronic S.

I now have over 300 wheel hp (hoping to be about 310), which is over 400 hp at the crank (haven't dynoed yet) with 23%-25% driveline loss because of the automagic tranny.

If you don't believe this, I don't blame you because I would have doubts also. From a stop, he would've roasted me... guaranteed.

Thanks Jeff. I'm still sitting here thinking about the run. Too bad I couldn't see his eyes in his rear view mirror.

Here's the link to the Porsche site if you're wondering where I got the stats from:

Congratulations...

I can feel the adrenalin in your typing. That sounds like it was a great run and a ton of fun. It would be nice to catch up with the driver and have that "What have you got in that thing" conversation.

I'm looking forward to seeing a timeslip from you one day. I'm sure it will make it to just about every automobile enthusiast board on the planet, when you finally do run. You must love the suspense you hold the world in.

Damn good job Kev! Although I would have to say it was probably a tiptronic. I have driven both 6-speed and tiptronic, and the 6-speed is quicker by a fair margin. Capable of ~12 flat in the 1/4 mile. Never the less, keeping up with a 415HP super car is very, very impressive. Well done.

Of course, let's not forget, Kevin is also driving an automatic so it is hardly less impressive for it to be a tiptronic. Kevin hanging with a 6-speed Porsche would be unbelievable, but Kevin and his Nissan automatic hanging with a Porsche tiptronic still drops a jaw or two in my book.

Great run Kev, your car is making some mad power.

I felt the same way as you now when I had my run with 540i the other day. It was probably an Auto, but he had exhaust and suspension mods. I was behind him at the light and saw him take off hard, I took off hard too and then it was on.
By the end of my 3rd gear I almost hit his rear bumper I was pulling so hard on him, when I let off and went to 4th, he floored it again and I did too and again I almost hit his bumper I was pulling so bad on him. I passed him a bit later and he looked very surprised that Maxima beat him.
I was very pleased to say the least.

What are the stats on 540i Auto? I know if it was 6-speed I think I would have hard time beating him.

Kev is over 300HP to the wheels and it was on a roll!
Figure it out!

He is putting close to double the HP to the wheels than you!

People are saying "take it to the track," but they fail to realize that not everyone has time to go to the track. I can find better things to do than go to the track (i.e mow the lawn, clean the garage/house/bathrooms). Heaven forbid I actually sit down and study.

Im not hating I just know the power that it takes to beat a 911 TT. Kev's car is probably a low 13's car and a 911 Turbo is a mid 12's car. Do the math!
