tailight compatibility

i was just wondering, are the 02 tailights the same size/fit etc as the 00-01 tailights? i.e. would the black trimmed SE tailights of 00-01 fit on a 02 max? would it just be as easy as taking out the existing ones and putting in new ones? thanks all.

2K2 tails are GREAT, IMO. well.. they arguably look better on sterling mist and pearl colored cars anyway.

Gotta agree with lcf...

way to much of a 'factory rice look'...

As far as holding off a purchase, try calling/looking up salvage yards...by now there have to have been some Max's (unfortuneately) that have to RIP early...

Guess I'm the only one on the .org that actually likes the 2k2 taillights . To me the blacked out 2k taillights look too small and unproportional on the back of the car.

If you end up getting the 2k taillights send your 2k2 taillights my way if you don't want 'em!

It has been discussed a lot but I will say it anyway. The 2K2 tails look the best on lighter colored cars: Sterling Mist, Icelandic Pearl, Sandlit Sand.

I think the 2K-2K1 SE tails look like black eyes on lighter colored Maximas. Just my opinion.

First off, I hate altezzas. That being said, you should know that the wiring harnesses and bulb types for the 2k2 are different than the 2k1. Having only bought the 2k1 tail housing to save money, I unfortunately found out that the harnesses were not an exact fit and the bulb types were different as well. It CAN work, but you will have to replace the rear blinker bulbs. Unfortunately, the blinkers in a 2k2 are CLEAR bulbs, and the lower half of the housing on 2k1 SE lights are CLEAR also. This effectively makes you a cop magnet. So when you get your SE lights, (buy only the housing, much cheaper) immediately order orange 7440 bulbs from www.midnightmooose.com, which was the only place I could find em. You can use the discount code on www.5thgenmaximas.com for a 10% (1.50) discount! I just installed mine today and am relieved that I don't have to fight the urge to signal anymore.
