Finally the race I've been waiting for. I'm on my way back from a friends house, when this guy in a black 2k2 pulls next to me at the light. To my suprise the guy rolls down his window and asks if I want to go...I'm like why not. The light turns green we both spin, but he gets a slightly better launch. He has me by a bumper till 20, as I get into second I start to pull by 60 I have a 1 1/2 cars. we race until 85 where I have about a 2 1/2 car lead on him. We stop at the the next light and he asks me what I have I tell him that I have headers and CAI, he tells me he's stock. I beat the 2K2 Max by about the same margin as a stock CL-S I've raced.IMO a race between a stock auto CL-S and a stock auto 2K2 Max would come down to who got the better launch. This is not a FLAME I was just posting a race.

I agree, the two cars are pretty even. I've driven my friends 2002 CL-S. Both cars are pretty sweet, but I prefer the good looks of my Max.

sounds pretty realistic. i didnt think headers and CAI would make THAT much of a difference. no doubt in my mind that you were ahead i just wouldnt have guessed by 2.5 cars.

my car (my friend driving) lost to my uncle's 302 HP SL500 (me driving) only by about 3/4 of a car up to 70MPH. so im kind of skeptical about the 2.5 cars thing. but thanks for the info nonetheless.

 

Maybe you are looking at it the wrong way. How many people would want to hear a 2k2 6-sp road killing an auto Type S on the Acura forums?

What's the BEST a stock CL-S can run? An I/H puts you at 14.4-14.5?

2-1/2 car lengths by 85mph means something wasn't normal. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I doubt it's always going to happen that way.

 

Sounds reasonable to me ... as he said ... stock auto 2K2 versus modded CL-S? The headers alone on our cars give us about 10-15 HP ...(correct me if I'm wrong).

 

1.I live in Houston.
2.Houston Raceway Park in Baytown. Where I ran a 14.59 @ 96.49 in October with 85 degree heat and 84% humidity.
3.I spent $200 for CAI $1100 for headers & $650 for springs and sways. New tires comming soon.

Good kill...I dont know how u pulled 2 1/2 cars on him by 85. You said your car ran 14.6, but stock 2k2 Autos average about 14.7-14.8 from what Ive seen. Doesnt equate to 2 1/2 cars IMO, in a distance less than a 1/4.

All I know is that when I looked back at 85 he was behind me... 2 1/2 cars was my estimate. Maybe he quit at around 65-75...I kept going till 85. But we did race and talked afterwards.

Let everyone know when you are going to the track again or meet up with some Max owners. 96.49 is your "BEST" trap with your mods on a stock 260hp car? That is good auto 2k2 Max speeds, 2k1 5spd speeds and you would get rolled and smoked by a STOCK 6spd Maxima.

Too bad your mods are so expensive and barely do anything.... at least for your times and trap. More expensive car and $1300 in performance mods and barely beat a stock 2k2 auto Max?

 

That seems reasonable to beat a stock max with his car, Maxtor why do you have to be so negative, at least his car has better resale than ours.

Yeah I ran a 14.59 what's the problem? This was my first time at the track with less than stellar conditions...85 degrees 84%humidity. If I had a chance to run in January when it was 35 degrees and low humidity...I most likely would have run in the 14.4's. 14.59 isn't bad with ****ty stock tires and terrible conditions.

 

I think this guy likes JETTAS...but I could be wrong. It seems like that he had a good race...to bad it wasn't a modded 2k2. Good race!

 

Hey Guys , he is RIGHT ! I raced Leftcoast in his 6 speed 2K2, he took me by 2 cars with only Franken and Cattman. If Left put headers ( If they ever come out ) , he would smoke this CL-S . He might smoke him without the headers ! With that much money worth of mods, I wouldnt be bragging about beating a STOCK 2K2 auto. I raced a 2K2TL-S , and took him by about a Fender....."No thanks, I'll pass on the side of Smoked Hon-Cura ".....

 

Just for the record, with only CAI, Iridium Spark plugs and Heavy 18" wheels I ran 14.613s @ 95.81 MPH.

 

For the record, ALL of us have 4 doors, many have 18's and even more can SMOKE YOU !

 

Whoa! are you sure 2k2 Auto traps at 97-99mph? I've seen some timeslip of 2k2 auto and mostly 94mph or lower. Just curious thats all...

 

I lurked at ACl.com from time to time and I've seen Nashua's time and it's true about his claim. Also there is one guy who run 14.8@94-95mph with stock tire and only K&N filter with a slip to prove it. Both are nice cars so enjoy what you got thanks...

 

Yeah that's too high for the autoMAGICs, it's more like 94-97mph. The 6-speeds are the ones pulling 99mph, but they probably have I/E though.

ANYWAY. You guys are acting like a bunch of snobs, true enthusiasts appreciate all sorts of cars even honduhs. Is it so hard to believe that sometimes certain cars can be faster? And if you do concede it do you have to make the guy feel bad with some low blow about how much he spent? Man there's 9 second civics out there that we will never touch. And there's top fuel cars out there that those civics will never touch. It's just a HARD FACT OF LIFE.

People come frequent our forum to learn about our cars that we love so much and this is how we recieve them. I guess we aren't any better than those mustang, camaro, and honda guys that you guys always complain about.

Oh, and in case you haven't noticed, this topic has been BEAT TO DEATH. it should have ended with a couple 'nice kill' posts.
