frakencar --> Check engine light

Has anyone had their check engine light come on after installing a frankencar intake on their 2k2 max?
I checked everything, its looks installed correctly and reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for 20 min. and theres still a check engine light on. I compared the intake to the frankencar website and they look exactly the same.

Disconnect the (-) cable to your battery overnight and the SES light should reset after reconnecting!

I had the same problem on my 2K max with my frankencar. Did you ever get it fixed? I thought maybe it was a problem with my MAF sensor. Maybe I pulled it too hard or something when I attached it to the tube...

This has most often been the result of reconnecting the battery and starting the car before reconnecting the MAF adaptor which will dump and error code and cause the CEL to come on regardless of what intake you have purchased.

There's also the case of inverting the direction of the MAF piece which not only throws out an error code but also reportedly keeps shutting down your engine.

quick question. when installing the franken car, should you rotate the MAF sensor 90 degrees so that the wire harness that plugs into the top of the MAF doesnt get smashed by the hood? Will doing so change the way the car runs? just wonderin

Nope, will not make any difference as I have done the same thing with no problems or CEL.

Most of the people on this board are experiencing problems with the FC intake because they did not follow the directions to the letter. I have seen
1) Installing MAF backwards
2) Not including the rubber grommet in the MAF tube assembly
3) Not installing all tubes correctly
4) Not doing the correct sequence of electrical disconnecting and reconnecting

It does not matter the manufacturer...Berk, FrankenCar,Injen,Stillen... whomever...if you dont follow instructions you will be hurtin. Read ALL of the directions before hand and understand them thoroughly before you do something. Spped is not the issue here....proper install and operation is.

I am doing my install of FrankenCar intake soon.

When you disassemble the MAF tube from the stock airbox, on the side where you will install the adaptor plate from FC, there is a thin rubber grommet that fits in a grove on the MAF tube. Be very careful and make sure that its still there and seated correctly before installing the adaptor plate to the MAF tube. Just go slow ( I did and it still took less than 1 hour, if time is a concern).
