Damn, what did you have in the back seat?

I've also had my car (my old 2.3 CL) broken in to; it had tinted windows like yours, so my alarm was useless...

This happened to me several years ago while I

owned a Mazda MX6. Bastards to my CD's and portable cd player. The worse part was that I was parked against a wall in a parking garage and they hit the door and the roof before they got the glass to break. I hate saying it, but you'll probably never get all of the glass out of your car....sorry.

it was personal. there will be a reckoning... just not right now. waiting a couple months til things cool down.

nothing was stolen. doors were still all locked. if they had unlocked and opened the door, it would have tripped the stock alarm.

i hope not, but i noticed a LOT of tiny shards. ive vacuumed out as much as i could. i hope a nice steam cleaning/detail job will take care of the rest.

what ****es me off the most is that the bar between the vent glass and the main glass of that door is bent and has metallic scratches. this leads me to believe that the object was about the size of a hammer but im leaning towards something perhaps longer and heavier. perhaps the hand lever of one of those old school style jacks. i searched all over my apartment and i didnt find any "tools" laying around or hidden. i even looked in dumpsters for gods sake. nothing. im pretty sure that if i give cops his name that they cant get into his house and search for it. if he killed me yeah, probably heh. either way, i still havent spoken to my attorney. most of the day i spent running around getting quotes from autoglass shops, etc. im getting a employee discount through my girlfriend at a shop they refer all their business to: $303.27 so its not too bad. the bar between the vent glass and main glass is what concerns me. its bent. it could be unbent, however the scratches on it are rather noticeable. i wonder if its a part of the door, or just a single piece i could have replaced. i called the local nissan dealership and they dont do autobody work, god theyre lame. im hating nissan more and more. i love their cars but *******, id rather deal with a computer than talk to nissan. sigh, i called the shop i got my rear bumper replaced at and they said theyd have to look at it to see if it can be easily, affordably, replaced. after all of this, i need to have it retinted. god, the fuct up part is, i have final exams on monday, tues, wednesday. how the hell... i cant even think about studying right now. woah, this was a vent..

hehe, well i paid 25900 for mine, the 2001s were already out (the AEs werent out yet tho)... similiar to how the 2002s are a great deal right now going for 22,500. yeah, the maxima is far from a CHEAP car, but i dont really consider a car expensive unless its 35-40k+. of course, this is all subjective and dependent on personal income.

Somebody broke the window in my truck a couple of years ago and was about to start making away with my stereo and and other stuff when somebody saw him and yelled. He dropped the stuff and ran. He was doing it in the middle of the afternoon. I feel for ya. Hope you have no problems getting it fixed.

FYI, factory alarm will not trigger with opening of rear doors. Only trunk and front doors are protected.

Yep,

They tryed to pry open the door handle then tryed to pry open the door up top. Finally they smashed the glass all to get my leather jacket in the back seat. The whole side of the car had to be re-painted and I vacuumed glass for about two hours out of every area you can think of. I concentrated on getting between the seams in the seats so the glass would not cause a problem later. Anyway the paint job on the repaired side puts Nissans paint to shame, I made sure it came out like glass.

There was a thread running for a while claiming that rear doors weren't protected (4th gen). This is NOT true. They are protected. The people who were doing the tests (including me ) made a mistake and didn't wait for the 30 second delay before the alarm is armed. I don't know about the 5th gens, but it would strike me as very odd if they weren't.

Sorry to hear. Baseball bat?

And yes. I had a windshield trashed (another place, another time, another car). Some punk broke off the radio antenna and used it as a whip.

yes i am a erd gen.. but it happens to all of us

my story of my window...

Its crazy that they break into a max just for petty stuff.. I mean for me it was the rear right, noticing a pattern ..? Seems like the favorite choice to bust the window is the rigth passanger.. Well they stoe a atlas map that was on the seat.. the doors were locked.. Raining and the interior was soak.. Paid like 20 for the damn atlas... But the price for the window was about 80+..

hope that you catch that sick basterd... Get him, and make him pay for all Maxima owners suffering...

Even when the alram goes off, the damage is already done, although it might give you a chance to do a little damage back.

I added a shock sensor to the factory alarm today, to alert someone should this happen to me. It was really quite easy.

visit the how-to's at www.5thgenmaximas.com for info. I've been using this site a lot lately. For about $12 you can add the shock sensor in under an hour. (It doesn't prevent someone from breaking the glass in the first place of course, but...)

Wish you the best.
