FRaNKEN CAR TROUBLE

I was installing my frankencarintake and my engine does not rev. I put everything in together by taking out stock air box and put MAF into the engine and i reconnectedthe 3 hoses into the intake housing. I connected air filter and everything and clamps are on tight. I skipped a step that said put the ATS in the MAFand just put the rubber on top of it....maybe thats the problem what does ATS stand for....what could possibly be wrong...my engine keeps turning off too..help!

Are you saying that you skipped the step of connecting the temp sensor (originally connected to the air scoop near the front of the engine)? Leaving a hole in the Frankencar piping?

Or are you saying you did not reconnect the MAF adaptor after putting everything back in the engine bay?

In other words, was the thing circled in the below picture connected before you started your car for the first time after installation?

Or was it the temp sensor that you didn't relocate to the Frankencar piping (sorry, no photo of that)?

If it was the temp sensor, I couldn't imagine that contributing to engine failure immediately...although it would leave an opening, post filter, in the intake tubing which could potentially cause a large piece of debris to pass into the throttle body and that could be a big problem.

MichaelAE is right you need that temp sensor from the scoop near the front of the stock intake piping. Otherwise the hole that its suppose to go in will be taking in way too much air and your car will run like crapolas. If your car takes in too much air or your intake is not connected properly your car will die out over and over again. I think this is the MAF at work. Make sure you relocated that temp sensor.

Did you

Install the MAF tube correctly? Are you throwing a CEL? are all connectors tight and snug. The MAF connector is spring loaded so you really have to make sure its tight. There is an arrow showing the air flow on the MAF...it has to be going the correct direction. Also make sure that none of the connector band screws are interfering with the throttle body.

Good luck!

No offense, but you should probably look into paying someone to install parts for you.

At least the complex ones.

I installed the intake on my 02 and runs fine. Don't know what this temp sensor is..but I dont have any open holes on my intake. Is this different than the 01 intake.

Yeah I am about to install the FrankenCar Intake too, I don't see any temp sensor in the install instructions. There is a sensor that on the MAF that needs to be reconected, that is about all I see that needs to be reconected.

Where does that temp sensor go? This is on 2002 SE.

Thanks.

Also, Steve so you suggesting unplugging both cables from battery, not just one?

I'm not 100% sure but here goes.

The 2k/2k1 midpipe has a smole penny-sized hole next to the breather pipe (that long skinny tube emanating from the midpipe). You shuld see it in the photo on this page: http://www.maximanet.org/gallery/album02/aaa

The 2k2 doesn't have this hole and i'm assuming we don't need to relocate anything.

I could be wrong, but that's what i noticed from both pipes (I got the 2k/2k1 pipe by mistake, the 2k2 pipe arrived yesterday but i need to pick it up from the leasing office).

Btw, Steve. I'll mail out the other pipe later today. Thanks for the quick shipment and return shipping!

Weapon-r intake looks pretty good. What type of filter are they using?
I like the blue theme. And that little filter on the side too looks cool.

How much was it?

Thanks.

Anyways theintake is prettynice..i dun tiink its loud at all, people are always saying how loud it is...it sounds completely stock under 2000 RPMS and the sound isnt loud until 4000 RPMS....I think I feel some power gain but I cant tell

1. tubing for a 2k-2k1 is 65 shipped

2. the pipes are different for a 2k/2k1 and a 2k2. 2k2 is slightly simpler.

3. whenever is fine mike, as long as you got your i'll just wait around, whenever. you find the $5 bill in the tube, don't want that in your engine

hey it's my fault, i feel that if it's the manufacturers fault why should you have to pay extra. you are already being inconvienced because of their(my) error.
