Searching spring rates...

OK gang, I've read all the search results I can stand and the predominant thoughts are that H&R springs are the closest to stock in ride harshness compared to Progress, Eibach, Maxspeed, etc. Well so I ease on over to tirerack.com and read their analysis and it says exactly the opposite (albeit the vehicle is a BMW 328), that Eibach was softer than H&R. Has anyone ridden in a vehicle on stock shocks with Eibach and one with H&R that can offer an objective opinion? I plan to get new rims and tires soon and want to lower the Max at the same time but want the closest to stock feel as I won't be getting struts at the same time. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

I have been searching for the exact same information; lowered and more controlled but with the stock feel. I started a thread on the Maxspeeds because they offer the best profile that I have seen, but added a little harshness to the ride. H&R's have the saggin a$$ profile and are twice the price.

Sign me up too. I wouldn't mind a slightly lowered ride but absolutely do not want it any firmer since I drive almost exclusively on freeways at 70 mph.

The Eibachs will definately firm it up. I have the Eibach pro-kit installed with factory struts. You definately feel more of the road with them. To me, the ride is firmer and more enjoyable than the floppy/sloppy factory suspension. I put appx 500-700 miles of highway travel on mine a week and would not even consider going back to factory. In fact, I will probably get KYB AGX's within the next month or so to make it even better.

Thanks for the info. Would you say that your stock struts are adequate enough to handle the Pro-kits or would you not suggest going with them unless you upgrade struts at the same time (if money were no object)? Now if I could only get you a ride in a Max with H&R on stock struts and get your opinion there, I'd be ready to make a purchase. I'm gonna go crazy thinking about it.

The stock struts do a decent job. It can get kind of rough going over bridges and large bumps. Adjustable struts should take care of that. If money was not an option, then I'd simply upgrade springs and struts at the same time (other org members have had the stock struts go out after a drop). I decided to pace myself on suspension upgrades and get the springs first. I'm not sorry for it. I have also added an Addco RSB and will be ordering a FSTB within the next couple of days. Final suspension upgrade will be the AGX's. With just the springs and RSB, the ride is more controlled and "more fun" in my book.

I had Eibachs and Bilsteins in my previous ride, Ram Air Transam, and loved the ride. Cannot find Bilsteins for the Maxima but still find Eibachs. Anyone know the best price and retailer for these springs???
Suggestions on shocks would also be greatly appreciated.

I paid $209 + shipping for mine. I think the best are the AGX. I hear of less negative experiences with them than the others.
